Sandbaggin'
Pete, Jeff - you are still sandbagging. The question on the floor is, based on your experience, what is your educated guess as to the value of the machine? The question was not what you would offer for it. Obviously, if you don't like Compacts, or if you have a policy of not paying over $20 for a machine, then your personal transactions are hardly helpful in answering the question. Yet, at the same time, you have knowledge that your $10 bid would come up short - so you know that is not the value. That is what I mean about the avoidance issue.
I would never in a million years have paid $230,000 for the bakery building across the street, but I sure as heck am going to take that transaction into consideration if I ever sell my building, or if someone asks me what these buildings are worth. How could I not?
But, let's say we finally have a couple of numbers. Jeff says the value is some less than $10. While I don't believe for a minute that is his opinion of the value, that is as close as he would come to telling us what he thought was the value.
Pete tries harder to answer the question and says $30, tops. In fairness, that was before the picture.
Kyle, do you think they are still sandbagging? While you think I am just hassling you, I actually think you have a ligitimate credential, with your machines, your experience, your talking to people, to render an opinion. Not only that, I suspect that you would give an honest answer even though you want to sell it. But, because you do want to sell it, I won't bug you for your opinion of the value.
Okay, experienced club members, does anyone else have an opinion of the value of Kyle's Compact?
Maybe this "form" will make it easier.
"I ________________ think the fair market value of Kyle's Compact, based on his description and the pic, is worth between __________ and _____________. Disclaimer: This "educated guess" is based on my limited experience with a very small and specialized market and should be used for discussion purposes only. You are cautioned that prices may vary incredibly."
P.S. Kyle, you taught me an important lesson today that I assure you I won't forget. That lesson is never trust that people you don't know well will be discreet about off thread communications.
