How many of you use vintage machines to clean your house's?

and what is your favorite type/brand/model to use? I personally rotate my collection but right now I am using my slate blue Hoover Constellation 86 in the kitchen on the laminate floor, in the foyer on the tile floor and area rug, and on the stairs which have carpet. For the wall to wall carpeting through out the rest of the house it's my Hoover mdl 61 Upright all the way. PAT COFFEY

P.S. For all of you out there who are using style C bags in your 61 I have found that the top fill F&G bags from Eureka work just as well as long as you cut a slit that is aproximately an inch or so in the neck bottom so it will slip over the Handivac Tube of the 61. I am going to try the filterette F&G's that I have heard about.

I regularly mix my vacuums up to give them some usage especially now that we're living in this 4 level split. Most are kept down in the basement level but I keep the Kirbys G's on the main and top floor then I don't have to lug them up and down stairs. As well I put some of the others into different closets throughout the house so they're always handy to grab and use. I think it relieves the boredom of vacuuming when you get to play with a different one every day.

I don't use my really oldest machines but do enjoy using my vintage Electroluxes, Kirbys and Hoovers. I don't have any particular system for rotating them; I just pick one that tickles my fancy at the moment.

Attached are a couple of photos of my friend Raul who LOVES housework. He comes over from time to time just to clean!! Ya gotta love that! He likes my old Kirbys, as you can see, and also loves the "darling little blue and white Electrolux."

IMO what use is it having nice cleaners if you dont use them? My favorites are my traditional uprights, such as my 3.5 amp commercial Eureka, Hoover Conquest and my metal Hoover Guardsman. For dusting tool use, i turn to my Hoover Portapower and Hoover Quik-Broom with hose. I use all my cleaners.

Usually my Constellation and 725. Once in awhile I'll use the attachments on the 725, mostly just for fun. Excuse the mess I've been trying to get ready to move for awhile.

I use most of my vintage vacuums wen I can. at least the ones that are serviced and ready to use. right now I am using my model 28 and 61 hoovers' and my 454 constellatin. and a model 500 eureka canister. My mom likes to use my hoover 115 JR every day and my 1178 D.A.M. power drive.

For my "daily" driver I am very consistent. I use my 1969 Hoover Deluxe Convertible model 1070 that I upgraded to a newer high performance motor, a CWP brushroll, and a nice long 30' cord. I still use the C bag setup (it gets changed once a week). For my bare floors and for getting cobwebs, I use the deluxe set of tools model 1061 that match the machine. I vacuum everyday sometimes more than that. It has never let me down and it sees a lot of use. I have had it for over 4 years of use now. Occasionally I will drag out my Telios canister by Hoover. I am not a canister fan but for some jobs it comes in handy. Long live my Convertible!

my daily driver is a kenmore imperial dont know the model number off hand but it is the one with the head lites and I use it evry day and when frends come over thay see why I love vacuums and the job it dose is as good as it looks

It will soon be a 2003 Kirby Ultimate G once I get finished

But here's what I'm using right now as the main vacuum for my room...the 1940's Hoover Model 61 from Greg. I do have my Eureka 630D in here as well, so the 61 isn't used too frequently.

For the occasional above-the-floor cleaning, I use my 1985 Eureka 3319 canister. The rug and floors are generally what receive the frequent vacuuming, so that machine doesn't see much use. Not a bad thing as it will remain in like-new condition.

I'd love to see photos of your machines, especially your Hoover Model O and Kenmore Imperial! These are very rare vacuum cleaners and it would be great to see them!!

I put in laminate floors in most of the house and I thought my Filter Queen model33 would be perfect with its hardwood floor felt brush, well one day I was vacuuming and she just went up in smoke, all my friends are familiar with the Queen,my friend Doug thought this was quite amusing, he said were you trying to dry your hair, get a massage and polish the floor at the same time, I did purchase another queen,but until its checked out,my constellation 843 is on the job, I did change the motor brushes so shes ready for daily use,and the decade 80 works great on the carpeted areas,I will have to try out my G4 one of these days, I've had it for a couple of years, It will be in the rotation soon. Vintage Machines in Use

All my small collection of Electroluxes are in use except one,

The basement has my second best XXX – First floor has my beloved turquoise model G – Second floor bedroom has my best XXX – Studio has an LX – Hiding in the hall closet is a Super J – In the attic (which is slated to be remodeled as a studio) is an XII which still has good suction but needs a screw in type hose. (It will be remodeled with the studio.)

The Florida house has an Automatic E which replaced a cheesy black plastic upright that was sold under the Hoover name.
