I think this is a Kirby 2C but I'm not sure.
I am open to correction.
I have a problem with my Kirby where the motor bogs down but runs and has a bit of an burnt odor to it.
I want to get into the motor but do not know how to do that.
Can anyone help me with this item ?

I don't know enough about Kirbys to aid you but I do want to thank you for this spectacular sun flashed picture. Like the hands of the Sweeper Gods just brushed the top infusing it with Vacuum Glory. Gorgeous.

bogging down

i had a kirby that did that... bogged down while running.. then one day, it bogged WAY down, and flames shot out the sides and scorched the carpet! Be careful!

What you have is definitely not a 2C. It has been rebuilt so its hard to say for sure but it is probably one of the models from the 505 to the 512. If you look in the post that Kirbymodel2C has elsewhere in the forum about his latest project, he told you how to take it apart. If you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them or I'm sure James would as well.

sounds like worn brushes

Remove the two black brush holder screws on each side of the motor, then remove the carbons if they are shorter than one half an inch you most likely need new motor brushes.

Your Armature is arching. For sure if you find the motor brushs are worn to nubs and the metal spring is wearing on the armature. The armature can be replace with a new or a better used one !
