I got this Electrolux Olympia canister apart thanks to some vacuumland members and got t open to find a big rusty crusty dirty disgusting mess. We'll, I've got most of it apart but I need to get the fan disks off and can't get them to come off. :( I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me.

Olympia

On the fans--CAUTION-DO NOT hold with bare hands when turning nut in center.Use gloves or cover with rag!!
On the "rusty mess"--It may be best to use this for parts or practice and find a better one for use. There were thousands sold with most having better care than yours.A better one will turn up.Most of what you have learned on the Olympia will apply to all square metal bodies starting with the 1205.Most motors are similar back to the Mo XXX.Good luck.

Thanks but...

I got it off. I it needs is the bearings to be re-done and it will work just fine. I cleaned up the inside, and it's just surface rust. The out side looks great and I wasn't expecting the mess on the inside but it got cleaned up. It will be perfectly usable when the bearings are fixed. I got at an estate sale and the son and daughter of the lady who owned this had no idea what they where talking about ( not that I expected them to). I think they thought it was a shop/ wet and dry vac and sucked up a bunch of water. But it's all figured out now all I have to do is get the bearings greased and put it back together. :)
