and explanation

Well the hoover on the right is my first true vintage convertible I am kind of a cannister guy ,but I am ready to start work on this one. My moms boyfriend happhasardly placed it in the attic and the bag is now in even worse shape. It has really dried out and shrank anyone know where I can get a new one and the best way to refinish the hood.

Your mom's BF....

GRRR... he should be slapped!

That green Convertible is model 69, made 1961 - 1964. to clean the hood I'd use a Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser"for the marks, then polish with Brasso metal polish. Brasso has fine pumice in it, making plastic sparkle!

You may be able to get some softness back in the bag with some armor-all. I'd also suggest washing it in the washing machine, HOT WATER, gentle cycle...use about 1/2 cup of clorox bleach, and maybe 1/8 cup of laundry detergent. If your washer has a warm rinse setting use that too. When done, stretch the bag back into shape and hang to dry...
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thank you

I appreciate it soo much. I love this hoover. She has a wiring issue is why it stool looks this way. It would run when it wanted to then not. I think its the switch cause no noise from motor at all like a jam or something. The sad thing is I just saw a red switch on ebay last week and this has the red switch of course lucky me.

My eureka

I am doing the same with my eureka if you can see from the pic. I found a really cool desk type enclosed sewing machine this weekend. My partner would not let me get it so I still dont have a machine. Good thought on the shoemaker though.
