Thats why I asked. It was like my old Miele a few years ago. I hadn't registered it and it came with a 2 year guarantee. I clean forgot that I hadn't registered it and when phoning Miele UK one day, they mentioned that they had no record of the vacuum cleaner. That's when I registered it - and after 2 years when the original warranty went out - but Miele suggested that from the time I registered the vacuum, that's when the warranty goes live. A lot of brands also do this such as Vax (TTI) too, so that's a nice thing for companies to do, when serial number registration makes the warranty go live.
