All bar one screw came out of the handle cover, it was so rusty I tried for half an hour to tease it out using avariety of methods. Sadly none of those worked so I carefully snapped the housing around the screw. This should glue together and be pretty invisible, and I have another screw

I've never seen a motor setup like this. The screws were flathead rather than philips too I noticed

The fan was in fine fettle
From Hoover Turbopower U2334
De fluffed the other fan, and soaked the bearing in plusgas which has it spinning much better now!

Carbons about halfway through life, so plenty left for the future!

Autoflex again now, and I consulted the 1990 book of Hoover

All the tension went from the cassette, but thats fine because I can re-tension it when re-assembling (much easier when its back in the cover)
From Hoover Turbopower U2334
I gingerly undid the spring cover, sprayed plusgas around and put it back...

And gave the whole thing a clean up

Picked the activator clean too
From Hoover Turbopower U2334
It's soft as anything though so will wash it and try it, but I have a few better ones that will probably go on eventually. The green end ones can barely hold themselved up
Had to clamp the bearings in the vice and turn the shaft with grips to get a bearing off
From Hoover Turbopower U2334
And thats it for now. My U1222 is drying, so I'll wash this one Sunday hopefully!
