After a long wait, it has finaly arrived. It has some damage to the bag door and height adjustment. Would love to make this all in good condition, if not its for spares!

Thats a nice example of a very late, very rare version of an otherwise incredibly popular & long running model. This one will have probably been made in 1994 or even later still.

Yes really. How can I tell? Well for start, it has an excess of slate-colour parts on it. The lettering is also of the later style. But above all, what do you see in the place where the autoflex button cap would have been...?

I'm not sure... Where exactly is that and what should/should I not see ?

Well, what you would expect to see in the place where the autoflex button cap would have been would be the autoflex button cap, as these cleaners originally came with an autoflex version, in beige. On the lilac model, the hole where the autoflex button would have been was capped off. The hole was on top of the bag unit, on the opposite side to the bag-full lamp. On this cleaner there is no cap. Instead the 2-speed on/off switch is fitted there, instead of in the handle.

A good few late Turbopower models had the one/off switch on the bag unit, but they had them on the side where the bag-full lamp would have been. However -and I have seen only three models like it- some had the on/off switch on the other side...like this one here.

Ah I see. Yes, when I first saw the position of the power switch, I did think "Eh ?" because it is usually on the back of the handle.

Having it on the bag unit is probably better though, as it would be easy to accidentally turn the Vacuum Cleaner off if it were located on the handle.

Yes it did get in the way if the cleaner was carried by the handle. On early 2-speed models the diode often burnt out when used on the lower setting. Although no one seemed to ever use the slow speed to clean with, it did seem that the switch would get set to position 1 whilst being carried to and from storage, so that when it was plugged in the cleaner started up immediately, and on the lower setting.

Settle this matter? Oh dear. I hope you didn't think I was being pedantic. I wasn't. I'm just saying its a late one. Loving the red turbopower by the way. Not many stood the test of time.

I had the exact same model for a while - it's now been passed on to a very dear friend of mine to take pride of place in his Turbopower line up. Great machine and one that's getting rarer by the day!

It is a nice cleaner, just not sure whats going on with the height adjustment underneath, part of it flops out as seen in picture 6!
