Here's the Slimline I got last week. It's a model 2017. Is the 1020 convertible the match to this one?
I gave her the full spa treatment. Here's the before picture next to the super J I also got.

It seems like every canister I get has a bunch of sawdust in the bag. Old tank = shop vac :(
I almost hated to throw out the vintage bag. They don't make em like this anymore!

The end result. This has to be the best condition original machine I have. Too bad it didn't have any of the tools.
It's hard to belive this was Hoover's BOL model!
And I was real surprised with the suction! I don't have a guage but with the hand over the end test it gave the super J a real run for the money. A lot more power than my connies.
Over all I'm very happy with this one.
Now let's see some more Slimlines!

I have the same one which iirc I got during the convention at Jimmy S place. It's an interesting vac but it's not as easy to use as the connie for dragging around the room.
Looking in an old 1978 Canadian Tire catalog the connie was $39 and the slimline was $65 so it wasn't quite bottom of the line.. LOL

Hoover Slimline

Rob,
Did the Slimline have the same motor and power as the portable? I remember friends buying one the Slimlines at the old Ayrway discount store and I think it was only $39.95. I remember thinking how could they sell a new Hoover for only $39.95 when they were asking $19.95 for just a set of tools for the uprights. I remember it was kind of hard to use because of the square shape, short cord and short hose. They didn't have theirs long before it was replaced with a new 1205 Electrolux. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Brings back memories!

The Slimlines are great

Yes, and they STILL made a profit from them. AGAIN, making a Portable, Slimline, and Miss Connie HOOVER, all taking the same bag, ALL of them w/ same motor (except Connie) was BRILLIANT.. All those choices.. one bag, one motor. THAT is "cost efficiency at it's best.
