At a recent cast party for a show I had just closed, Frank Sinatra: 100 Years, I saw this Hoover shop vac hanging on the garage wall. It belongs to the host of the cast party and my fellow tenor singer. Was a wonderful cast party catered with delicious, homemade Italian food. One thing I thought to take a picture of was this shop vac, because I knew there were people here on Vacuumland that would appreciate it.

We got to chatting a bit about the fact that I collect and restore Kirby vacuums, and that I belong to this online community of like-minded enthusiasts. It was a very fun exchange! I got to share my Kirby love with my friends and cast mates in an open way.

So I hope you enjoy.

We've had Hoover Central Vacuum Systems in Canada for decades. Many models come with a power nozzle and electrified hose. The garage vac is a modified version with no power nozzle meant for cleaning cars and home work shops. There have been many Eureka central vac systems on sale in Canada, too. Many with that great Express Power Nozzle.

Not a great vacuum

I had one of these. The motor sits on top with a cloth disc filter that inserts under the motor. Filter clogs within minutes of use and it is a hot mess to remove and clean. It is also very loud and runs hot.
