Hi Guys..
just was wondering if any of you use the Hoover Platinum Bagged Upright? How would ya'll compare it to a metal based Convertible? I have a model 719 and love it to death.. but i also like the styling of the new Platinum.. so any suggestions before i buy one? Im just afraid id use one more than the other... and dont wanna spend $300 on a vac im hardly gonna use? Or Will I leave my beloved Convertible for the new Platinum?? LOL.. any suggestions? This would only be my second vacuum.. i use my 719 weekly.. love the quiet hum.. and does a good job of cleaning.. so basically just asking you EXPERTS out there.. what are your thoughts? should i get a platinum and try it out or just stick with my convertible HANDS DOWN? Thanks..

I'd stick with the convertible

Really there are better lightweights out there my experience with the platinum was cut short due to a circuit board issue but during the time i had it i put it against some other lightweights it took 3rd out of 4 in one test, and last place in the next. They are cool looking vacuums, but i feel their longevity is poor as i've seen a few with circuit board issues now, and the fan and motor seem to come as one piece. If you search for parts online, the fan cannot be bought seperately from the motor. So odds are if you ever broke the fan you would need to replace the whole motor assembly. The convertible may not have the filtration power, the light weight or the cool modern looks to it, but it will perform better and last longer.

thanks Blackheart...

and also the convertible parts are still available. thanks for the advise.. and ive seen alot of good ratings on the platinum.. but also so negative things too. but ill stick with my good ol convertible... its over 40 years old and still runnin strong :) any advise on how to keep it runnin so?

just

Regular maintenance, belt changes bag changes avoiding objects that will break the fan ya know just the common sense stuff really.

I hope the Hoover Platinum beat an Oreck

Blackheart, please tell me that the Oreck Platinum beat all Orecks. I doubt it beat the Riccar Supralite, but I would get that it definitely beats an Orecks, at least at deep cleaning.

Well

in terms of deep cleaning the results were
1. simplicity freedom
2. Oreck XL-21 (which should perform the same as a gold or silver)
3. Oreck XL Ultra (old style small fan narrow filltube.
3. Hoover platinum
