So my Bissell ProHeat 2X started leaking rusty water on my near white carpet last time I tried to use it, so I just chucked it. Was just outside of the 1 year warranty, big surprise. Anyway, I decided to go with something that has a long warranty, great features, with an onboard heater. Hopefully this lasts longer than the Bissell did!

wow, awesome looking. i cant wait till aug when the canister comes out. let us know how it cleans.

Wow,
Andrew that is quite impressive, I love how they have added even more brushes to this model. This must be unbeatable.
Be sure to let us know what you think of it when you use it.

Oooh! You DID get it! This is exciting!

Congratulations, I'm sure this will be a fantastic product for you. Thanks for the great photos, it's nice to be able to see it up so close.

We'll talk later... :)

I am keeping my fingers crossed that TTI Vax introduce this model in the UK. I've seen a demo on HSN's website and it looks the dogs bollocks! (to use a vulgar British term)

Please let us know what you think once you've put it through its paces, especially how dry it leaves the carpet.

Nice!

Hey Andrew

That looks amazing :)- you have my sympathy over the Bissell, Jack told me it decided to throw rusty water over your carpet :( personally I wouldnt touch a Bissell with a long pole, not only because of the reliability issues(particually with the pump), but I HATE the bag in tank setup for the clean water.

Ive just ordered a Vax All Terain after being very impressed by Jacks videos of his Dual V. It was half price direct on the Vax website £164.99 with free delivery and a 6 year warranty- think that workds out to approx $240-250.

Jack visited this last weekend as hes no doubt mentioned and left me a bottle of Ultra shampoo to try it out- im going to be doing that sooner than I thought as my bedroom and hallway carpets were saturated with smokey dirty water last Friday evening(the flat above me caught fire!!).

Im guessing you will be trying yours out very soon ;) look forward to pics etc :)

Very Cool

That is very cool looking! No all we need is a Vintage Hoover style video demonstration! LOL! Thanks for the photos.

Yeah, I agree. To top it off, IMHO TTI is utilizing the Hoover name to inflate their prices. I could be wrong but I really feel the quality and durability we've known Hoover for will have gone out the window with TTI. The same held true when the Fantom name was taking over by Euro-Pro. Quality definitely went in the dumper!

'But I wounder how long it will last as it is a TTI.&#39

They back it with a 6 year warranty. So it's guaranteed to last at least 6 years.

And knowing how well Andrew takes care of his stuff, I'd be willing to bet that Platinum Washer will outlive most of us!

Initial Review

Cleaned the living room carpet with it this morning, and was thrilled with it's performance. The suction is way better than the Bissell was, and leaves the carpet just slightly damp, not sock soaking wet like the Bissell did. The brushes are much gentler yet scrub the carpet on all sides, and I found that it did not create as many fluff balls as the Bissell. The vacuum motor is very quiet, and smooth sounding. If I had to guess, it's probably a lamb motor, even Bissell used a lamb motor. Like Jack told me, if they warrant it for 6 years, I bet it's got a better motor than one might think. I read a few reviews online where people said it's a detergent hog, but I found that untrue. I was able to clean the entire living room without a refill of the clean water tank, and it didn't use very much detergent at all. (At $20 a bottle, this is good!). Detergent does not foam up like the Bissell formula did when you shake it. Hose suction is awesome and the tools are very sturdy. When I was done with it, I go overboard with flushing the system out with clean water. I pour unused detergent back into the bottle, rinse out the detergent tank, and fill with clean warm water. Filled up the clean water tank, and I flushed out the pump (or pumps, not sure how many this thing has) from the end of the hose, and also with the WASH/AUTO RINSE motions. I do this on an old area rug, to make sure all the detergent is flushed out of the lines. I've always thought that it would be best to not leave it in there for long periods of time, might gunk up. What happened on the Bissell was the heater assembly, corroded, clogged, and the pump caused the bottom of it to break open spewing rusty water out the bottom of the cleaner. I sure hope this one lasts a long time, and at $400 + $50 in detergent and spot cleaner, you can bet that I'll send this in for service as much as needed for the 6 years it's warranted if it does fail on me.

sounds great and im happy all is going good with your new cleaner...and id use that warr. to its fullest also...ive seen those but way to rich for my blood....im kinda a hvr-spin scrub guy.@$200.. yours is a beautiful machine'" so you got some pics of the finished carpet and or a worn hallway b4 and aft?

I have a question.....

I have always wondered why these particular machines have never been called "carpet washers."

At first they were called "steam cleaners", but I guess the legal departments of all the companies forced them all to give up on that name since the machines did not really clean with steam. Now I see Healthy Gain Investments, Ltd. - Division of TTI is using the innocent but obvious name "Carpet Cleaner". Isn't that what every dry vac is? To me the only difference is that these machines use water and liquid to clean carpets.

So why not use the term "carpet washer"? Any thoughts or comments guys?

I was able to touch one of these at Target the other day. The price has come down from the original $499 to $399. If they drop another $100 I would like it better but still considering it as my 17 year old Bissell Big Green clean straight suction is getting long in the tooth.

I am glad to see your review that it does extract well. I looked at the Royal/Dirt Devil carpet cleaner and liked the duel brushes, but reviews shows they leave a lot more water in the carpet.

Would love to have a Rug Doctor but not that rich. This looks like a viable machine for my future purchase.

Question now that a few days have passed

Andrew, I was curious of your impression now that a few days have passed since you used it. In particular how the carpet feels with the rinse and better extraction features. I have a Hoover Agility, never their top of the line model. It is decent at cleaning and getting spots out, but without a rinse feature, there is always a stickiness to the carpet when it dries and I always fear that stickiness will actually attract more dirt. Curious if you noticed a better end result once it dried. Chris
