Hi, Is this screw that holds the the rear wheels on my hoover model 26 in this picture also the height adjustment mechenism?

I'd like to find that out before I keep using that so I don't mess the screw up.

Also, Does anyone have a copy of a 26 oners manual they can post here? I love the 262's manual.

Thanks everyone.

Hoover 26

Was the first to have an auto matic rug adjustment.Just got the manual out and here is what it says...MODEL 26 OPERATES AT MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY ON ALL RUG THICKNESSES WITHOUT ADJUSTMENT.
Owning a revolutionary new priciple of a cleaner construction, the Model 26 requires no hand or automatic adjustment of the nozzle.Regardless of the thickness of the rug the nozzle will be at the proper height above the nap to provide the most efficient cleaning. There is nothing to turn.Nothing to think about,no mechanical apparatus to get out of order.Just run the cleaner from rug to rug.It will do the work.
Hope this helps you.dont touch it and foul it up.Leave it alone

Michael

no it isint.....

your thinking of the 150.....that screw is for adjustment, you have to keep adjusting in small amounts then test to get the right height, and you also have to know what the machine should feel like when the height is correct.

Michael is correct. That is what the manual says. Perhaps that screw IS for adjustment, maybe an "inside" trick that the repair folks could use to fine-tune the nozzle height, but the machine was not designed to be height-adjusted by the user. I have the manual and found the page with the comments that Michael mentioned. I have to go out, but I will scan and post the pictures later.

There is also a 4 page addition entitled Instructions for the Use of The Hoover Mothimizer. I believe it has been published here in the Vintage section recently, so I am not going to publish it again. - JAL

@portible the big gap in time and mothimiser instructions not published again are no problen.I just want to thank you very much for posting these instructions.they mean so much to me. However, which thread would I find that 4 page mothmizer instructions in?

Thank you very much once again

@ portable was there a page on cleaning rugs with fringe on the model 26 instructions? Just want to request so.

Thank you so much again.

@portable I should have mentioned this a few years ago but I noticed when you posted page 3 twice that page 2 was never posted.
Whenever convenient for you I'll be happy to see page 2 of that hoover model 26 manual.
Thanks again for all you do.
Damien
