Hey guys,

I'd like to pick your brains :)

I have a Hoover Hurricane Extra, (the bright red UK model from around 12 years ago that got Hoover into legal trouble).

It is fantastic, but the foot release mechanism has been broken for some time. It's not that much of a nuisance, but it does mean that when cleaning with the suction hose the 'upright' part of the vacuum falls down onto the floor or onto me.

The foot pedal isn't visibly broken from the outside, and it does make a click when you pull the handle down to vacuum the carpets, but it won't lock back into place when you finish with it.

I'm wondering if it's worth me taking it apart and how I fix it.

If anyone has experience of this that they can share it would be most helpful.

Thanks.

The Hurricane model didn't get Hoover into trouble, quite the opposite. It was one of Hoover's escape routes, along with the Vortex Power.

It was the original Triple Vortex with weedy suction that Dyson objected to.

The Vortex Power with around 240 Air Watts, and the Hurricane with 350 Air Watts had the conventional cyclonic filter systems.

Its easy to be replace, you should be able to find parts on eBay. Although the part is slightly different to the purepowers..
