I do hate the hose on this thing - waaaaaaaa too short. I think I may have a spare Hoover hose around here somewhere that I can use for the machine end, then attach a longer coiled hose and at the other end, don't fall into a dead faint Hoover fans, but I think I am going to put an Electrolux handle so I can use Electrolux tools with it. I have white Lux attachments that will look nice with it. The attachments that came with this thing are really cheap and crummy, and the floor-rug nozzle is about as lousy a tool as I have ever seen.
I am REEEEEEALLY impressed with the power of this machine. Truly amazing. It has to be one of the, if not THE most, powerful machines of its era.

Charles, that looks just right with the longer hose. Now you have Hoover wands & coupler for further transplant experiments. Looks like the nylon button latches are still intact.
I heartily approve since I had to come up with wands for the Viking (Eureka) so I could use the VibraGroom attachment. While the regular Viking floor tool has a 45 degree swivel elbow the VG had none. Then I found it in another box of bits I scooped off the floor - damn lucky. Electrolux wands are the perfect fit. More on the Eureka Vibra Groom later...it too makes strange unearthly noises rarely heard.

Reminds me of one of those Egyptian deities with the body of a human and the head of an animal!
That hose does look way short though. Wonder if it was punctured and then cut down? Does the floor tool have the floating brush? I'm not keen on them, as the seem to leave a gap between the intake and the carpet. If I use one, I just retract the brushes, especialy with my looped pile carpet. I prefer the UK flip-over floor tool, but I don't think they ever made it to the USA!
I've got to say Charles, you're the *last* person I would have imagined picking up a Hoover Celebrity! That's a step towards the Dark Side for you!

I think I sacrificed my Celebrity back to the thrift store when we moved last year because it isn't here now. That's how packed the moving van was on the 2nd trip. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it since my most precious Kenmore Duo Power upright is also missing in action and there is NO WAY in hell I would have given that away or taken it to the dump. Already my blood pressures rising just thinking about it and that move which had to be one of the two most stressfull experience in my life to date.

I like the Celebrities too. I just wish you could get better filtering bags. I might have to do some experiments of my own. Mu Ha Ha
I think the longer hose is a great idea. The non-electric celebrity hoses are way too short! The Lux cross-breeding shound be OK. I have a Hoover hose that I put a Lux machine end on. The world didn't stop revolving.

Charles~Richards Hoover reminds me of Audrey Hepburn's "Breakfast At Tiffany's" hat, and that comic book looks like an interesting read, love to see more of both. Could someone show us their Celebrities? I want the cheapest one, the one that floats on air.

Here's my orange one model s3005. I have a couple yellow floaters, but they are buried at the moment. They are model number s3005-030. I think the orange one is oldest? It has the older style plug. The yellow ones are square. Anyway I like these, and they float better than my connies. Someday I will figure out how to get them to filter better.

iirc they weren't near as quiet as the connies are they. I bought a red one new at the time for a friend back around 76. It had the power nozzle with the awkward cord that wrapped around the hose and for the life of me I can't remember if that had to plugged into the wall because there wasn't an outlet on the machine itself. I'm thinking it did but I could be wrong.
Thanks, Nicholas, that's what I'm talking about. I'd take a floater or non-floater if I can find one. Any color too.
