I saw this over the weekend at a thrift store but did not buy it. I had a bad monday and decided what better way to make it a better one than to get a vac to play with lol. It was 1o bucks and an absolute mess. I gave it a spa treatment lubed the bearings magic erased, and waxed the hood and back to blacked the rest. What do you think

This is the one I was telling you about logan if you see it.

the shiny hood looks so good in this pic. It is very quiet and light and I love a front bag ever sense I saw an oreck when I was a kid.

have the 97 version of it

convertible eilte triple filtration
works ok
its I think 7 amps
very light
good to carry

what I don't like is the square tube inside design
stuff seems to get clogged
its not very areodymamic

I can believe yours was a mess
mine was worse than worse when rescued from trash

infact when I found it the entire line was clogged with a few feet of muck so it just spit things out
fina;;y cleared it & its ok

never saw such a blockage
to be fair there were 2 paperclips in there holding the glob that went from the floor to top of neck

I use it nowfor the building
it had a tool carry which I took off as it is useless with tools as the suction is ho hum

Yours has a shag height
Can't imagine thats 90's so your might be older say 70's?

They came out with the elites in the late 80s as a bottom of the line cleaner but they were a huge success and ended up replacing the convertible in 1992. They stopped making the household elite in the early 2000s but still make it as their lightweight commercial cleaner.

hey

I really like it I was never really a fan of the elite cause I thought of them as cheap you know. But to be honest I like the color and it got so clean. It has become one of my favorites very quickly.

I used it today

I found that the suction was awesome quiet and light and fun to use. it looks soo good though I dont want to use it lol.

It looks like from the serial number it was made in the 4th month of 1989, and the rest of the number is what number of machine it was off the assembly line. I'm no expert, but if I'm not right, someone will correct this information.

Rick

mine looks almost like yours but no elite 600

mine had triple filtration on the bag & something about light
Mine definitely says convertible
but when I looked up the model number in Hesco think it said elite but its a convertible as written on vac

probably still made them well in 89
my serial number would make mine a 97...think october

it's pretty light think 7 amps & pretty noisy though not as bad as thw windtunnel which I just donated.

Hey Matt nice Elite. That's exactly the one I was picturing when you told me about it the other night. I agree with you that retail therapy is the best! Especially when it involves a vacuum purchase! :-) If I remember correctly, those Elite's do a nice job grooming the carpet. I haven't used one in such a long time.

I promise I will get that Jubilee power nozzle hood ready to send to you soon. Sorry it's taking so long. I'm stuck at home right now with a bad case of bronchitis. Ugh. Hopefully I will start feeling better tomorrow.

this one

I find this to be very quiet usually the bearings go in these fast. Years ago I sold one on ebay to a lady who just loved it. Come to find out she was hard of hearing. She then proceeded to tell me she bought it because of its allergen protection and yadda yadda which was a bunch of crap it said on the cover. I felt so bad I bought her a brand new bagless and sent it to her.

That was nice thing to do for the elderly lady

You know you built karma
& something good will come your way...

OK went into the boiler room
where the less than fav vacs loom...

its 7 amp
hoover convertible light & soft
07 97

sorry light isn't so good in the dungeon & flash tried...

LOL

Is this design related to the Riccar Supralite?

I just bought a Riccar supralite that could pass for the Hoover's twin. I love the little Riccar, but it causes one to wonder about the design. Many simularities--base, motor layout, bag placement, fill tube.

I love that elite, I havent seen one in years, my mother bought a green elite(the lowest model with no attachments, height adjustment or light) from Service Merchandise when our Kenmore upright died. I loved the elite except the cord was a bit too short for me. Hopefully I will find one at a yardsale now that seeing that makes me want one.

A Hoover Elite 350...

...is what I might be fixing on the weekend. My friend found one in his coat closet, and it is his first vacuum. He wants me to repair it. :)

I am looking for a motor that went to the early elite. Mine is now right at 20 years old and the motor is telling me everytime I turn it on that it is ready to retire. But I don't want the more powerful higher amped motor that the later elites had. I just want the (I think it was) 5 amp motor?

I need two of them, really because my white elite 200 is also 20 yeasr old and it has a newer motoe in it but I want as close to original as I can get. Also if anyone has the early to mid 90's light green Runabout by Hoover without head light and the top of bag slides off. I think it might be the first runabout? I really want one. After I retired my elites and put them away from everyday use I bought the Runabout and it died years ago. It lasted only six years of two or three times a day use, not to mention every house on the street got a cleaning with it as well. They all loved to see me as a little kid come down the road with my little green vacuum.

we had one of those green Runabouts with the bag slide on top. it was green and it did have a headlight, I think. It replaced our light grayish-green elite. We bought it for $94 at K-Mart in April 1994

Does anyone have a pic of a green, headlightless, silding ba

If so, I would like to see it. It sounds just like a hoover elite 200.

my elite might have had a headlight after all. I can't remember. I am wanting to say it had a place for it but there was just a green plate in place of the light lens. kind of like that later metal bassed convertible had that red plate in place of the ligh.
