Nice find I have one of these and I need to clean it up still.

The ESP in the back was mint when I found it, was just cleaned up. That was my first vacuum I got last year when I started my collection. I need to find a rear wheel/axel set for it (Self propelled version). The rubber was all brittle and crumbled away from the wheel hubs. Other than that, it's near perfect!

Here is the base after I painted it. It looks pretty good, much better than it did before. I just have a few touchups to do around the label with some goof-off, and on the bumper as well. The color matches the hose and rest of the vacuum almost perfect.

Andrew, you did a great work on the paint job!!! What color is that?

Color is "Almond". Found this at Home Depot. It was the closest thing I could find, that matched the unpainted handle. I guess since they don't sell "Vintage Hoover Off-White", this works fine

Nice paint job! The dial a matic I think is my favorite. My aunt had a green one that matched her shag carpet perfectly. A couple of years later my mom bought the same one. I always liked the way the Check Bag metal sign would bounce up and down when you vacuumed.

Finished project. Still have a couple of touchups to do, but overall, it's done. - No longer stinks!

Did you paint the plastic bag housing, too?

I was able to clean up the orange housing pieces with magic eraser. I had to paint the rest of the cleaner so it was all uniform.
