I am looking to ad a hoover convertible or 2 to my collection. I would love to find a vintage 50s or 60s one and a 80s or 90s one as well. Is there anyone out there willing to part with one?
I did find one at a thrift shop, it was a plastic based model in blue with the striped kmart bag. I thought about getting it but I'm pretty sure it was past saving. It was missing the headlight lens, the hood was cracked, the bag was torn, paint was worn off the handle, and to top that off, it looked as if it had been stored in a barn. It was only $4 lol but I passed anyway, I'm still looking for a '60s one tho
Stranger things have happened, Mark! Vacuumland was all in a happy-fury when the infamous Miss Tania found a BRAND NEW Kirby model 561! It's not as if that was the last Innkare in existence! How did the Innkare become yours, anyhow?
We stayed at a Holiday Inn in Hardeeville SC when I was a kid-early teen & asked them if they had an extra Innkare vacuum that I could have. Maintenance went through & found one & was cleaning it up, they also opened up a new one & was putting it together to replace the other one. Well confusion started when I guess the manager came in & asked what was going on & he recognized me as staying there many times traveling through to PA so he said to come with him, we had a nice chat & he said you have something waiting for you in your room, but don't run back, walk so I did & when I got there it was the brand new Innkare in a box. We said our see you in a couple weeks to everyone & left on our way. They always looked forward to us staying there each time & so did I! Fast forward to a couple years later going through again, staff changed hands & it wasn't as pleasant a place to stay as once before. So that place always had a place in my soul as someone did something nice for someone not because they had to, because they wanted to & I have always lived that way still.
No they didn't have a clue but every hotel we stayed at I always asked if they had one to let go & most did. Never asked why I wanted one, they usually gave me one or let me pick some out in the storage & that was fun too! Hotels have seriously changed since the 70's. That was way before Oreck & Windsor took over the hotels.
I'm going to get to do that soon at the hotel I work in (which has been open since the '50s). I was told there was a lot of old stuff that was being donated including a bunch of old vacuums. There's Sanitare, hoover, Oreck, Windsor, kirby, etc. I can't wait for that, I'm sure I can find something lol
You are going to have a blast Austin.. It's amazing how much stuff gets discarded & it only needs an easy fix! I took stuff that I didn't need at the time but eventually I did .... take everything!!! LoL leave no stone overturned
