After looking for years, I bought an all original Hoover Convertible with the metal body that I have wanted. It is in excellent condition so I am only doing a mild restoration and upgrading it. I know that most of these Convertibles share the same parts, so I have had no problem finding what I need for it, but found it very curious that is has no actual model number stamped in it.

It appears to be a 4047

Tried searching what appears to be a serial number. Just found it interesting. This is a great Hoover. Love Convertibles.

Parts I am replacing

I love waiting as new parts come to my home. I am replacing the brushes, brushroll bearings ( which now have a plastic washer so I could toss the felt ones), brushroll end caps, bag collar ring, bellows ( found white ), top fill tube, bag spring, handle screws/nuts and plate ( just to make it more solid ) and have new belts and Q HEPA bags trimmed and ready.

I got the odor and dirt out of the bag by.......

.......wiping down with Clorox wipes and spraying Greased Lightening inside both ends of the bag as the brown color washed down the drain and IMMEDIATELY rinsed thoroughly with warm water and hung to dry. I kept the cleaner away from the bag lettering. Love that this Convertible has the original matching cord and plug too. Can't wait to get it done and turn it on for the first time. Going through the motor next, so I will be asking you Hoover guys questions. Have always wanted to do a Hoover Convertible motor.

I have noticed that some Convertibles/Specials have very faint model number stampings on them. I have never been able to figure out why. Perhaps the machine that did the stamping needed to be adjusted.

John,

I have to get approval from my little guys first. Then they take over the box. This stamp may have even been covered up by the paint, but there is no sign of anything. Maybe that's why it's in good condition because nobody knew how to sell it when new :)

Today I received the new.......

.......white bellows and new bag attachment band. Just waiting on the bag spring and top fill tube now. :)
