Hello everyone, I have a quandry about a Hoover Convertible bag that I have. I would like to know what model it goes to or if it goes to any one in particular. I've never seen one like it so its either really rare or its a replacement. The bag is a narrow top and the top is pink vinyl with pink lettering on the bag. The bag itself is a light brownish color. The bag does have a zipper as well. The lettering looks to be the smaller variety as I know the older bags had bigger lettering. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Thanks,

Chad Cunningham

Could it have been....

I'm wondering if, by the color, that it may have been a factory replacement for the model 65 and 67 as they had bags that used the earlier vinyl that dried out and cracked, and became brittle with age. That's my guess...

Stange no one lese has chimed in here? You'd think that someone may have some insight as to why this strange bag exsists!

Colour...

Is it really brownish, or has is just become dirty and discoloured?

There seems to be a narrow strip of whiter material, just under the pink strip at the top of the bag. Also, a few inches to the top-right of the "H" of "Hoover", there appears to be a whitish splodge.

I suppose you could carefully wipe a damp soft cloth, moistened with water and a little toilet (beauty) soap, over it.

Citation look-alike?

I have a bag just like this on my Citation, if fact it says Citation on it, don't know if it came original to the machine, or was a replacement down the road, but looks good on the machine.

Citation look-alike?

Looking at that bag closely, it appears that there was something besides the H on the bag to the left, that has been wiped/smudged, painted. scratched out e.t.c..

It may have even said Citation, but could have said DVC. Tho, looking at the rest of the bag, you can plainly see that this is stock from Hoover. NOT an aftermarket. The HOOVER, and the CONVERTIBLE are in the right places for originality, yet that smudged area still remains a mystery?

I diddn't even THINK about the Citation, needing this color bag when I was writing earlier. I used to have a beutiful Citation 64, that years ago went to live with Jeff Parker. Totally stock except for it had a large white vinyl later Convertible style bag, looking just like this one, with peachy colored upper bag top, and letters that just said HOOVER on it. IT was not a DVC, and it did not say Convertible on it either.

Hoover probably did this several times over the years to fit various models, or were part of their rebuilding program of which I do not know when they discontinued that practice.

It's cool tho.

What vacuum did it come on, or with when you found it???

The bag came on a Model 33 Special. It really doesn't even go with that machine so its original bag must have been replaced at some time with this one. I have tried to clean it to see if the bag is really white but it doesn't seem to come off so I think it is the color or close to the color it was when new.

That off-color next to the H is really the inner paper bag showing thru the perforation. And the bag couldnt be for a model 64 since the 64 and 65 use different size bag rings, no?

I guess that for a spell Hoover used the same bag materials for replacement bags to fit 64, 65, and 67.

Cool bag, anyway.

Hey Chad -

I'm pretty sure that what you have there is an original Hoover Convertible bag for the 65. The color has probably faded - they tended to wear to a tannish color from the original pink. I believe the later 65s had the metal horizontal thingie like this one does.
