Please could somebody guide me through the numerous different models of Hoover constellation (and Maytag Satellite) that have been produced over the years?
That's a tall order. I don't have therm all, but, I'll dig up what I can. There are others here who can chime in too. It's a wide range. There was a time when they made them to compliment the Convertible. Sometimes, a handivac, polisher, etc, would be in a 'set'.
Thank you very much. Now I can begin to get my head around the subject of Constellations.
What was the purpose of the tilted model?
I also assume that here in England we got another lot of variants, just to make things a bit more interesting/confusing.
The above link is very good.If you might want a bit more--The nonfloating 82 had a cardboard att caddy & round instruction book. The first 84 floated with tilt base similar to 82 & had cardboard att caddy with optional tool rack available to lay in base. The second 84 had the fixed ring at base. The 85 was the only one that had 2 plastic bumps above bumper to wind cord. The 85 was the last to have big rear wheels on rug nozzle. Was there more than 1 model in 60s that had different colors for same model no?I think this is accurate for American, others could add much on Canadian or British.
According to my records between July 1960 and January 1961
Assuming the serial numbers run sequentually there were around 99,000 cleaners built in this period (little wonder there are so many of them around) so assuming an even production run, sometime around September/October 1960
