Hi all. My family is preparing for a move--a big undertaking after almost fifteen years in one house. When I was cleaning out one of the deep dark closets, I found this nifty old vacuum. My husband and I have very fuzzy memories of him bringing it home years ago, but we don't remember much else about it. We don't seem to be in possession of the hose or any other parts, but maybe those will surface later. It does turn on and the floating aspect is really cool.

I did some Googling and it seems like you guys are the best people to tell me something about what we have--if anyone feels like doing that, of course. It's a Model 86, but from what my searching tells me, those only came in gold or blue, and this one is definitely two-tone green. Could someone have painted it?

Anyway, here's a picture. It's really neat looking! :) Thanks for reading!

Neat find! I found a Model 84 recently and It's very similar. When you turn it on does it still kinda hover or glide across the floor?

It does. Well, it glides across the hardwood, but not so much on carpet. In any case, it's very cool. I wish I'd found the hose etc. like you have!

I would guess someone along the line, someone painted it. There's good news, the hose connector looks to still be attached to the machine. You could take that to a vac shop and have one retro fitted to the connector, and a standard 1.25in end on the other end that would use any standard fit attachment available at any vac shop. When you open the lid, there should be a filter over the motor, and if it's in bad shape, you might find one on ebay or an older well established vac shop....and same for the "J" style bags. I'd keep it and use it, very unique! Not a bad color either, could've been way worse.

Thanks so much for the advice! I hadn't thought we'd keep it--we're moving into a much smaller space and really need to downsize--but it would be cool to use this thing. I'll see if we can find room. Thanks again!

Use the yard for vacuum storage if you have to, the neighbors will just think a satellite crash-landed!
