For all our Hooverphiles out there:

I just saw a close-up pic of the hose port on an old Constellation, and it had something I never knew about. There seemed to be a ring or something around the hose port that seemed to indicate that the user needed to rotate the ring to set the vacuum to blower mode. Can anyone explain to me how this worked?

EurekaPrince is curious.....:-)
 
I think that was on the model 87 that had the power switch on the end of the hose. That ring was so you could still turn it on without the hose connected to the intake port (when the hose was connected to the blower port).
 
Remote Switch Vacuums

Above is correct.There was a Royal with switch on hose the had a switch(on tank)position for blower.Later the Elux Renny could use the hose control for suction or blower.
