Hoover Concept on eBay

I don't usually like to post eBay auctions, I feel it drives the prices artificially higher, but be that as it may, I was wondering what the deal was with this seller? He keeps re-listing this U3101 Concept, even though he always gets bids. Does he have more than one? Also, how'd he come up with the year 1984? I thought the U3101 debuted in 1978? I see this time the auction comes with the tools and the Buster B canister.

well, if it's ANY consolation,

he spelled the plural of vacuums as vacuum's and motor's instead of motors. God... is grammar gone out the window?

he has it listed with a reserve, that means he has set an amount he wants for the vac and will not sell it unless bids reach that price, or if hes lucky exceed it

He probably thinks it's a goldmine, and has a reserve of maybe $500 on it thinking there are people stupid enough to pay that for those two vacs.... :S

If they were brand new in box, maybe, but as they are, nope...

It has really become a problem with eBay. People who know nothing about vacuums think that just because it is old (more than a few years) it is worth a fortune. A couple of weeks ago there was someone who listed four Kirbys, a 500 series, a Heritage and two Heritage IIs and was asking $400 each. I emailed him/her and told them that none of the vacuums he/she had listed was worth that much. I did not get a reply. I seem to recall that he/she listed them three times, never sold them and have not been listed since. People should do a little research before selling things on auction sites. Check out what things sell for, what is too high a price.

I guess this seller doesn't mind paying to re-list it again and again. You would think after a few auctions to lower the reserve, or start the auction with no reserve at a price point that is fair. I would go for it maybe, were it a Montgomery Ward's or J.C. Penney labeled Concept, or maybe even a commercial Concept. I believe a VCCC member salvaged a one-off Hoover Dial-A-Matic from the vaults that was Montgomery Ward's branded. It had a headlight, don't think it had power drive. That I would give my right eye for....

Stay far away as possible from him, buyer or seller

I had put on eBay last year a complete medium gray 3.9 Kenmore canister from 1988 with the original molded hose (in perfect crack free shape) and he won it for $76 and had the nerve to ask for his shipping refunded because "it smells like smoke." Reluctantly I did cause I didn't want negative feedback, and then he wins a 1978 mid line Kenmore canister from a friend of mine and tries to pull the "refund my shipping" stunt by claiming "the cord is hot when the machine runs." Luckily I had forewarned him about this mike character and he did not budge, and I went ahead and blocked him from my listings.

Well, this mike relists my Kenmore several months later with a replacement hose and not the original Powermate and wants $99 starting bid with a reserve. I have no idea what he is smoking down there in Arnold, oh wait I do but that is a whole other topic.
