I found this Concept at a thrift shop a few days ago and picked it up. It was very dirty and completely clogged up with cat hair. Now that I've cleaned it up it runs like new though. It seems to be in relatively good condition too except for the battle scars on the hood. I don't have much experience with Concepts but I have been pretty impressed with this one, I also think it does a better job than my newer teal and black one.

All Cleaned Up

It took a pretty long while, but I finally got it nice and clean. I just love the way this vacuum cleans. And yes, it's the exact same colour as the Decade 80.

I'm not sure if the handle is a replacement or not, I've asked several people and they said that it varied model to model and it could have come with a black one or a green one. I will say that this black one has obviously been on there for while because it shows signs of wear. But I also know replacing the handle was a common problem on the Concept line. Here's a pic of the HEAVILY scarred hood.

I'm happy to say that machine is all original. That line of concepts (that color) all came with the white handle with black top. The lighter green models are the ones that came with the colored handle tops.

Hey, what's the serial number on your teal one? The label is different. I'm just curious if this one is older or newer than mine.

and are you also missing the cord hooks? Mine to

Kirbyvertibles,

I forget the number but I am positive that it was made in 1992. And no it's not missing the cord hooks, they're actually on the of the machine.

Oh wow yours was one of the last Concepts to be made lol.
I've never seen one with the hooks on the rear. Must have been transitional with the introduction of the Powermax

That's what I've been told before, it has the exact same cord hooks as the PowerMax and it's the same colour teal that was used for the PowerMaxs

Nice Concepts!

I found this U4205 at a thrift store last night - marked at $19.99, but with my "club card" on Thursdays, it gets me 25% off.  It's pretty dirty, but in very nice shape overall.  I'll put it in line to get a teardown, for sure.  It's funny - I was looking at this thread just the other day and saw the pictures of this model, and thought to myself that I would love to find this non self-propelled machine... then two days later here it is.  The universe works strangely sometimes.

Austin, I found a model like that Teal Concept on Craigslist sometime a year or two ago, for pretty cheap and I tried to do a restore -- but it was too far gone, and in pretty terrible shape.  I think it's a model U3341 if I recall correctly.  I kept a handfull of parts for it, because I hope to find another someday, but pitched most of it.  I love the simplicity of it, how it's a "bottom of the line" machine.  I don't love the cord winder on Concepts - I prefer a longer cord generally, and they're a nusicance to deal with when disassembling the machine.  Yours seems to be in lovely shape!

I know exactly what you mean.

I have seen several of the green ones like that around here, I should've picked one up. I really like the the teal one too, mine has a few issues but nothing to major. I'd love to find a non-power drive model too!
