Wow! That’s a pretty impressive list, Paul!

Would you be able to add a unique British Hoover canister which was also sold in Canada in the 1960’s? It was a 120volt version of the Hoover Harlequin. In fact, I think we saw I remember seeing the name “Harlequin” used in the print ads here. See below for a British “advert” of the vacuum…..

Thanks, Brian, and glad to oblige!

None of the Canadian ads I saw referred to the Model 413 (that you described) as a "Harlequin", so it may be that the model name was only used in the UK with its Model 419.

Not only did I add the 413, but all the Canadian tank-types I found beginning in 1950 along with some other vacuum cleaner types manufactured in that era. The newspaper ad is from the October 21, 1967, edition of THE CALGARY HERALD.

Thanks Paul! That’s a great addition. Always loved that wire tool caddy. I think I even remember seeing one in real life in a hardware store in Montreal in the 1960׳s. Or maybe in a Woolworth’s.

Of course, Brian!

Thank you, for the link to the Harlequin commercial—nifty!

Paul

There is one more Lightweight Upright to be added: the 1354A "Dirtsearcher," which was mostly similar to the original U.K.-spec model, but with 120-volt plug.

This may have had final assembly in Burlington, Ontario, since the Hamilton, Ontario plant that was Hoover Canada's original manufacturing facility closed in 1972.
