How does the orange celebrity hover, Alan? I don't see any visible vents..like the connies have.

I'm sure the answers obvious but hey, at least i'm posting again.

Heh, my grey connie actually "walks" around the hard kitchen floor on it's own.

Not the same on carpet mind.

How many colors did these come in? Everytime I see a picture of one it's a different color! The vac shop I was at the other day had one that was dark green with a mint color green underside. (I couldn't buy it because it was there for repair - Grrrr)

Thanks Nicholas, the Celebrities are beautiful. I'm sure my blue one does not have power nozzle capabilities. I will continue to buy these as I find them, but I'd like the green and blue ones. I have only seen one Constellation in person as a child, I think in a store. I'm sure they float a little better than the Celebrities.

It's all in the design of the rim on the bottom as far as i'm aware, Alan (try making a double entendre outta THAT one)

Logically you'd think the Celebrity would be the improvement over the Constellation as it is a newer model, but as i'm sure you know that isn't always the case.

What kinda name is "Celebrity" for a Vacuum anyway? lets call it Epiphany and be done with it..

I've seen vacuum cleaners with better personalities than some show biz celebrities, frankly a vacuum cleaner deserves that title much more than them. How about Debutante, Dilletante, or Astroglide? Also, one of my favourite Mr. Blackwell (self proclaimed fashion critic) quotes was "I've seen prettier covers on vacuum cleaners."

I always think the 70s/80s Kirbys have classy names..

Heritage 1 and 2, Tradition, Classic, Legend 1 and 2..

heh.

Floating

I have noticed that my celebrities float better than my connies. The celebs are much more powerful so I think that's why.
Sometime I'll have to dig out my green one when I'm at my dads and take some pics.

Ebay

Did you look closely at the blue one on Ebay? Did you notice hose the power nozzle cord connects from the hose to the machine? It looks as if it is "hard wired" directly into the machine. There is no plug that I can see. That can't be right! It almost looks rigged, but then again I may be wrong.

What do you think?

I would guess that the blue one had a plug at some point. But it was broken maybe? It does look hard wired in now. I can't imagine someone cut that hole perfectly square if it was "rigged up".
Based on the screws in the power nozzle I'd bet somebody played with it.
Now that I think about it, I have never seen a Hoover with the cord outside the hose before. My theory is that the original hose was trashed so they found a regular hose and an aftermarket cord. The plug was too big to fit in the socket so someone hard wired it in. By jove I think you've got it Holmes.:)
