I just bought a Hoover Celebrity III Deluxe canister "flying saucer" vacuum cleaner off eBay. Although the vacuum runs, has all its parts, and is in clean condition, the foam filter that surrounds the inside of the motor has disintegrated and upon turning the vacuum cleaner on, the exhaust vent blew out bits and pieces of disintegrated black foam.

My question is: what kind of foam can I buy to replace what was there?

Someone who also orders from Essco taught me this it should work being you said it is a celebrity III and the person said use a generic  Bissell style 10 filter BR-1880, I'd say give that a try. I'll have to try that on my celebrity.
