HOOVER Bicentennial

It was a "must have".  I bought one last week through John Gregory in Dunmore(Scranton) THEN,  I was passing a house for sale.  On the CURB was ANOTHER Bicentennial!! The cord was cut.  WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT?The lens is bad, BUT, the bag is perfect! It's hard to get a perfect Bicentennial bag.  Lucky day here! This is the "good one"

I like 'em. They do mutiply for sure. I dont recall seeing any Bicentennial Hoovers around here. The only place ive seen them is here and you tube.

John , OH how I Envy you !

There are so many Hoovers to be collected. That is one I have wanted, just because I remember them being around. in 1976, plus that was the year my son was
born. So it is even more memorable than a lot of the others. Then it's blue, my favorite color and shade !
Let me know if your going to put it up for sale or auction. As I am interested,
if the price is right. Then again, it might be a good door prize, if you all have
a regional meeting in Pittsburgh. Then I'll have to be invited and take my chances.

Sometimes people cut the cord on discarded electronics for two main reasons:

The first being a liability issue. They think that if someone gets hurt using the appliance (whatever kind it is) they could get sued.

Secondly they just don't want somebody using something they have discarded.

Some people are just weird in this way.

Often-the cords are salvaged for--the copper.Have seen trashmen do this before they throw a discarded appliance into their trash truck-they have a pair of cutters in their back pocket-so they lop off the cord-hang them on a hook on the side of the truck.guess with enough severed cords-the copper adds up.Recycling plants that take the cords have machines that shred them-then separate the copper form the cord material.

We have "scrappers" routinely roaming the neighborhoods, driving beat-up pickup trucks  in search of any bits of metal they can turn in for cash.   The less-scrupled ones will take anything that isn't bolted down and in some cases even that is no deterrent.

I'm friends with

My neighbor down the street. He is the big dog scrapper of the neighborhood and he also does some antique dealing as a hobby. I get to pluck through the truck first before anything is pulled out or crushed. I got a nice 1961 Monark bicycle back in May. The rest of the stuff as been modern. People don't away good things in my neighborhood very often.

john your unit i got for you looks awesome.....i saved a 1076 lens for it ... the one out on the curb by your house has potential plus a mr clean eraser on your find will take that non yellowed hood up to prime appearance .the sea blue medium color of that hood always yellows or gets greenish..we will have to go through my convertible hood collection to see if i have one ....i found the perfect cord for it and will have to fire it up and see how she rides...as for 1926700s u4085 that unit is mint.....it needs a going over with a mr clean eraser on those foot pads and bumper and a good polishing with lemon pledge and that u4085 would be back in 1976 all over again....a+ .ps ... john....cottonelle or charmin
