Two Model Numbers on this Vacuum.. Help please...

Hi Guys,

I want to pull the trigger and buy this Hoover and I saw there are Two Model numbers for the same vacuum. Does anyone know if there is any difference in the two other than the “plain box” or colorful store type box? SH40090CA and SH40090PC. The Last Two Letters are different, but online I can’t find any difference in either.

Do they both come with all the same tools and accessories and is it the same powerhead?

If anyone can help me, I’d appreciate it and is there anyone on here that bought one of each? I thought from the picture on Rexair (Greg’s) post he might have bought both as one is in a brown box and the other is in the colorful artwork box.

Thanks guys, Patrick

I missed out on this a few times as I debated and waited too long and it went up to $49 again, then down to $39 but now that it’s at $34.99 again and free shipping... I MUST buy one! Thanks

Actually - The Model number has NOTHING to do with what you get in the cartons as far as attachments -
.
All the attachments come with both models - It is simply the type of outer carton -
If you look at the pictures that I posted, One is a closeup of the carton showing the model # SH40090PC -
.
Here is the difference:
SH40090PC-Plain Carton-Plain Brown Outer Carton for QVC/HSN/Home Depot Type Sales-Plain white inner carton -
SH40090CA - Print Outer Retail Carton as shown in reply #15 in this thread - Actually both Cartons are shown in that picture - The PC Brown Plain Carton, snd the CA Printed retail carton -
.
According to TTI, And "PC" in the end of the model # is always a Brown Outer Carton - They has the same thing the First Devil Stick Vacs when I got one - One in a plain carton, one is a printed carton -
.
Hope this helps-
Dan

@danorob1

Thanks Guys!

Dan, I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly and I am happy to say I placed my order just now for the Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum!! Like you said, for $34.99 how can you go wrong!! I’ve paid more than that for a cheap dust buster type cordless vacuum LOL

I am very excited as I have wanted one of these Hoover for my collection for a very long time. I always passed on it though as I don’t have many Canister/Cylinder Type vacuums in my collection, plus it was always $100 to $150 bucks.

Dan @danorob1 If you don’t mind me asking do you remember how many business days after you placed your order, did your shipment arrive at your home? I am in Ohio so that might vary from New Jersey.. but I’m SO excited I can’t hardly wait. I think this is the best deal I’ve paid yet for any vacuum when you compare the original retail cost with what I finally paid, AND it’s a brand new vacuum.. Not Factory Blemished or Refurbished. A Brand New Hoover Vacuum for $35 Bucks!! Whooo Hoooo LOL

Lastly, can I ask everyone here for help. I always buy all filters and bags (If Bagged unlike this one) and keep all the extra parts in stock in my home for every vacuum in my collection. I just want to have extra sets of filters so when one set is being washed at the recommend interval, I have an extra dry set to put back into the Vacuum. That way if at any time my husband or someone in the house vacuums with one of them, they are ready to go and not missing filters. Ok, that and I’m just very OCD about my vacuums and I need to have all the parts. You should see the drawers and drawers of brand new filters and belts and extra parts I have in my vacuum room! Anyhow, if anyone knows where to get a complete set of filters for this vacuum, please let me know. Oh and the Brushroll Belt Type/Number??

Thanks guys!!

P.S. I almost forgot so I’m editing my post... Dan, Best wishes for a speedy recovery on your Hip replacement. I did Not mean to be insensitive to your recent surgery and you know how it is with us Vacuum Collectors.. I had one thing on my mind. haha. But seriously, take care and I hope all goes well for you with your new Hip. My Mom has had both hips replaced and did great and feels so much better. Anyhow, thank you Dan for your post, your help and pictures.. Take care!

Hi Jon - I ordered on 10/23 and they arrived on 10/26 -
.
As far as extra filters, I wish I could help - I won a set of two on an e-bay auction, but when they arrived they were incorrect and did not match the listing which was for the correct filters - They were very sorry about the issue and refunded my money back and told me to keep the wrong filters which fit nothing I have !!!
.
Evidently they mixed up shipments and have no more to send - If you find any, let me know where - Here is the link to the auction I won so you can see the item numbers on the picture -

I'm pathetic

I don't even want one of these.
If I had one, I wouldn't want to use it, just keep it in the box.
I have no room for another vacuum to sit around and not be used.

You guessed it...I just ordered one!
Seemed like a price that was not to be passed up.
What's wrong with me?!

Barry

Honestly, I don't know if I'll even take it out of the box.
After ordering it, I decided to see what it sells for elsewhere.
On Amazon, it's a little under $100.
Then, I started reading the reviews.
It sounds like, if I was to open it and turn it on, it might break.

Barry

Hi Bill - Not a problem - I understand being cautious - To be honest, their descriptions are not that great - The PC Plain Carton version is basically shipped double cartoned so I think it will hold up better in the hands of FedEx Ground !!!!
.
I had to do a lot of research because when I got the two Air Revolves, I also picked up the dirt Devil stick with the dual power heads - One for rugs, and one for stairs and upholstery... It took half an out of looking up the model numbers on the web to find out what was really included... Again - They need to work on the description of "what is included" as they are not very accurate, but fortunately you usually get more then they state...
.
And Barry - As you are a collector, I would not worry about it holding up - It is not that badly built - Like I said, just clunky with large attachments -
.
Dan

I'm so tempted to order one, but absolutely no more room and I've been buying too much on eBay lately. lol The shipping cost alone is worth that price at least.

I'd be afraid to run it too though, because I would want the plastic to stay clear. But if it's meant to be used , use it I guess.

Called Hoover Customer Service about replacement filter cost

I attached a link to the only webpage that Hoover still has up for this product.

Kinda sad, but one bad review does not mean all that much.

My experience with using it while teaching my niece how to use it, was that the suction was moderate to strong, not sure about if it's up against much resistance if it fades fast... it probably does.  However, it's definitely a huge step up for her from a low powered stick vac, which she couldn't use for dusting or above floor work as easily.

The Hoover Customer Service Rep. said that

HEPA pre-motor filters are: $9.52 + $6.99 shipping; part number 440008004 on back order until July 2019

Foam pre-motor filters are: $1.04 + $6.99 shipping; part number 440008005 on back order until July 2019

Also, seeing in an online video somewhere, that there actually is a post motor foam filter, which I thought should be easily accessible by removing the four small screws next to the carry handle.. no such luck!  It must involve removing the large green "wheel" plastic, and I was afraid it would crack.  Damn, that could have been useable.

I did find from the Service Rep. that there is a HEPA type filter under there and it is an exhaust filter and is a bit costly... like more thatn what we paid for the whole machine!

Exhaust HEPA filters are: $36.92 + $6.99 shipping; part number 440008002  available now

Note that the numbers on the dust bin sticker are incorrect, per me tediously going over it twice with her, I am sure the part numbers I got above are correct.

Happy Hoovering!

BTW, I saw on their website that Hoover doesn't have ANY Canisters at all in their line up.  This may be the end for them producing Cansiters.

My G-d, what's this world coming to?

Hi Guys,

Well thank you to Bill for the filter information, very helpful to have the correct Hoover part numbers, but pretty useless (Thanks Hoover) when no one has them in stock! Lol. I am not worried about the internal, non customer serviceable filters as this vacuum will be used lightly for fun and kept as a collectible for my own joy of owning it. But I do like to have the filters that get washed for one reason, I don’t like to leave one of my vacuums sitting around the house without all the filters properly fitted in the off chance it accidentally gets plugged in and used. That and I always let the filters sit to dry for two or three days to make absolutely sure they are completely dry before they get put back into the vacuum. So thank you for the information and Ill keep an eye out for available spare filters and post here if I find them.

Thank you to Don as well for your initial post and bringing this to our attention. I never would have known about this deal as I didn’t see the post when it was $79, but I probably wouldn’t have paid that for it, as I said before, I mainly collect upright vacuum cleaners. This one is just TOO Cute though to pass up. I am however a bit disappointed at Direct Tools Factory Outlet... I ordered my Hoover Sunday the 18th and assumed from their website info that is would be shipped on Monday, well mine did Not even leave their warehouse until Tuesday so now I won’t get my Hoover until this Friday! Initially the information from DTFO said it would “Arrive” at my house on Wednesday the 21st. Regardless it’s all good, I’m just SO excited to get this vacuum.

Ok, thank you to everyone else involved with this thread and all the great people I’ve met and chatted with here on Vacuumland.org I really appreciate having a place to share my passion for vacuum cleaners and to also have a great source to voice concerns, questions or just chat about this topic.

Everyone safe travels and have a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving holiday!

Patrick

Hi Patrick

And Happy Thanksgiving!
I ordered one on the same day that you did, and had the same reaction.
Like I said earlier in this thread, I don't need this vacuum, and didn't even especially want one.
But the price seemed so good, I couldn't resist!
It may not even get taken out of the box.
But that didn't stop me from checking the shipping status every day.
It must have shipped the same day as yours, because my projected delivery day is Friday also.
If I do open it, I may run it once, just to see what it's like, and to be able to say that I tried it out.
Or, I may leave it sealed, and just experience it vicariously through those who have used it.

Barry

Update:
Patrick; I just checked my status again, and it now says it should be delivered on Monday.
It's in Charlotte, NC today.
As cold as it is here today, I kind of wish I was in NC![this post was last edited: 11/22/2018-10:10]

What a Fun Vacuum! I’m definitely glad I bought it!

Hello Everybody!

IT ARRIVED SAFELY!! Lol. I got my Hoover this morning at 9am and it was in perfect condition, only a few minor scuffs on the box but WOW the top of the box was dirty! Covered in a soot type black dust, but thankfully it wiped off.

Barry, I think you are going to LOVE this vacuum and if you don’t keep it sealed, at least take it out and turn it on to listen to the motor and feel the suction. Thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes and I hope your family had a wonderful time.

I have to admit I am very impressed. My initial evaluation and I have to say (shock, gasp) this is a wonderful canister vacuum. I found the design to be one of the easier canister designs to roll smoothly behind me. I love the power button and brushroll switch being on the handle as that is my biggest complaint for my Simplicity canister, I’m not big on foot operated switches. I actually feel the suction is quite strong for a canister and my ears find this Hoover very quiet. I also think the motor for the brushroll is quieter than some I’ve heard. None are as whisper quiet as my Simplicity, but it’s very pleasant sounding to say the least. I also love the way it rolls and follows behind me so smoothly. I don’t care for canister/cylinder type vacuums and 99% of my collection is Upright type vacuums.. BUT with that said, this would be my favorite if I had to choose one to use everyday. I guess because I’m a big guy I don’t find the bigger attachment tools a problem and actually like all the attachments (but one.. the floor tool with double squeegee strips.. Why?? Lol) and one thing I always check is the dusting brush and how soft it is.. this one is perfect and gentle enough for dusting most things. I’d never use any vacuum dusting brush on my TV screen, but some people do. Otherwise I would use it on most items to dust my livingroom tables, fireplace mantle, window blinds, etc.

Ok, I could ramble on and ON about this cute Hoover Air Revolve Canister.. but I won’t bore everyone. I willl say this though, IF I’d bought this Hoover back when they were still $79 bucks, I would still be very pleased and feel I got a great bargain. At $34.99... I Definitely recommend everyone buy at least one. I kinda wish I had bought two, but not sure if I want to go through ordering another. The only reason I’d like to have two is I think I will be using this more than most of my canisters and I would like to have a backup just to have as a collectible and not used.

Thanks and I included a lot of pictures for fun. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask and I’d be glad to answer if I can and also if anyone wants specific pics of anything.. let me know. The last two pics are to show how much dirt, dust and hair I picked up just from a quick vacuum of my livingroom area rug that was vacuumed last night. I was impressed and the filters were not bad at all after using it in several rooms of my house. You could see some dust on the black foam filter, but the other one was still clean.

Patrick

P.S. Thank you again Dan (danorob1) for bringing this to our attention! I really appreciate it and am happy to have been able to add this to my collection! If you or anyone else ever see a brand new, never used Hoover Z700 (the deluxe model) U9145-900. PLEASE let me know as I really want to add it to my collection. Thanks

Hey Patrick,

Thanks for the review!
I'm glad you like it!
I was beating myself up for ordering one of these vacuums.
Now, I'm contemplating ordering a second one.
My tracking still shows it for expected delivery on Monday.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out what they were thinking with that squeegee floor nozzle!
If it was a wet/dry vac, okay.
But a bare floor tool should have bristles, as far as I'm concerned.
Will the squeegee thing even glide over bare/hardwood floors?
That's what I have almost everywhere.

Barry

That weird tool...

I told my niece to use the powerhead on the rugs, the floor brush on her hardwood, and the squeegee weird thing on her vinyl/tile kitchen and bath floors, only if they were dry, of course.

Not sure what else it could be for, and no one at TTI customer service will have a clue, I'm sure!

Double Squeegee Floor Nozzle...

Hi guys,

Could it be Hoover includes the Double Squeegee Floor attachment to use on CARPETING?

Maybe it’s for delicate carpets and rugs that the brushroll would be too aggressive?

Just a random thought... discuss amongst yourselves and let me know! Lol

Patrick

EDIT: Well I guess I should have read the owners manual! Lol. Hoover lists it as a “Hard Floor Tool” for cleaning surfaces with crevices! So there goes my carpet theory. Lol. But I do remember Roger Lang’s video review of the UK Vac version of this vacuum and the Squeegee and it did a great job on his kitchen tile floor. Oh well, I still think I’d try it on delicate carpet and rugs.. I’ll let you guys know.
