Hey
I recently bought some Hoover bag bellows from henryvacuums on eBay for $10. I had an inkling to stop the it thrift store. They had a black and Decker handvac late 80s and the motor was shot. There was a lux 2100 I believe circa mid to late 80s. The cord was shot and I think circuit board for power nozzle was fried.
I seen a Bissell lite. I went to plug it in and try the hose. The vacuum bin hose brush roll was seriously full of lint. I was not in the mood to clean it out see if it warranted $5. There was no other vacuums to suck up into that vac. There was a Hoover 913 400 watt which is either 3.5 amp or 4.5 amp motor. It had a shakeout bag. I turned it on and it sounded pretty strong.
The vacuum underside is metal. It has a rubber bumper and where light goes is rubber housing. The rest was metal.
I brought it home. I took off bag and cleaned it out. I added bellows and put f and t bag on it. The bag is nicest shakeout bag I've seen. There is a weird height adjustment on rear axle. The underside was easy to unassemble it. The plate over motor housing clipped on. Brush roll was held in place. It rattled a bit. Being metal brush roll with metal housing and bristles are almost gone and bearings on brush roll need packed. The belt worked. The fan was in immaculate shape. I took belt off and spun the fan it made a sound like a worm drive. I don't know if it's bearings behind fan or anything else. I'm not sure when the vacuum was made but led light worked on it. I think only piece missing is light cover on hood.
The vacuum cleaner is a beast. It weighs more than 30 lbs I'm guessing. I think you would not worry about dents in vacuum you could demo house walls with this vacuum and walls would have dents while vacuum would have paint on bumper.
I could see popularity of Hoover's. It had like 1/8 of an inch bristles left and it was cleaning up extremely well. It's quite a nice vacuum. I paid $7.00 for it. The brush roll said Hoover 6 and had replaceable bristles.
I took pics on of it. You can't see bag setup but it is f&g now. I think maybe some bristles and maybe bearings.
The main noise when I turned off was brush roll. I'm not sure behind the fan of there is bearings. Just the bearings brush roll bristles a belt and perhaps a lens and vacuum is ready for another 50 years. I'm not sure on year it was made in guessing early 60s.
