hello again hoover 61
Well now the hoover guard is no big deal its only a bit of rubber riveted on, firstly a modern black guard could easily be put on. At this age you wont get an orginal. Thats not a big deal a vac modern repair shop can do that for a start.
As for the bag well now, you can do a saved search in bay to let you know when one turns up.
There are people on this site that make their own bags not difficult for the right person to do such as seamstress , the material you can buy on e bay 100% heavy gauged cotton drill in black. Amost identical to the original cloth. Dont do the poly mix would not look right.
Brush roll rubber belt no probs any modern vac shop can find one to fit.
As for the handle bar auto spray paint can tidy that up nicely.
All this you can do while you wait for the other bits and it can sit pretty, good things don't come in one go.
As like model A ford , these machines don't seem much different than a hoover senior in operation from the late 1950s like the one you call the convertible.
You can auto sol aluminium polish the metal and she will look good to look at too.(don't use it on the badge though will take the enamel off. Trust me when this is eventually done you will love it.
You never know a scrap hoover may turn up for next to nothing but with a good bag or wheels too, that's how it goes with old things and its all part of the fun.
If you cant find any wheels then put some newer hoover senior wheels on and paint them black while you wait for orginals ive seen that done before.
Its all good fun, then there are antique secondhand shops flea markets I think you call it to browse.
I wish you the best of luck and this is not something for the dump how very dare you lol,if you think that then you best give it to a member here the poor old lady needs love and care.
These machines were the rolls royce of vacuums in their day.
