I'm not sure why the big argument here about whether it is or is not fake. It is a legit box and vacuum. Just because the condition is good doesn't mean it's fake. This is not something that you use daily and haul the box all around the house all the time. They usually sat in the closet.

The facts are the following....

#1: Masland Duran vinyl coverings were trademarked and first used in commerce in 1947, it was filed as a copyright in 1953, and was out of business and a dead brand by 1996.

#2: The wood is not actual wood, it's a form of cardboard called Masonite. It was used heavily in the 1930s and 1940's during WWI and WWII war rations. Many storage boxes were made of this material, and by the 1960's flooring was made of it.

#3: Northwest Mfg. Company is listed as being in "St. Paul 17, Minnesota". No city name within the last 60 years has been formatted that way. Also Atwater St. is no longer a street anymore, it's now known as Atwater Circle. That address number (459? Atwater) does not exist anymore.

#4: The "Guaranteed By Good Housekeeping" seal logo on the Duran tag debuted in 1941 and remained unchanged until 1962 when it was redesigned.

#5: The "PA 1-5395" telephone exchange number dates to a May 11, 1961 newspaper classified ad in Minneapolis, MN. The ad attached for this number hawks "$112.50 A WEEK! GUARANTEED!!! New, expanding firm needs men. No experience necessary, PA 1-5395." Now wonder who this firm could be? (Revelation Associates door-to-door sales firm perhaps?)

#6: The one "Wally Blatz" on the sales card is Walter Martin "Wally" Blatz who passed away on Feb. 28, 2014. He was married to an Eleanore Hasse (the salesman misspelled her name on the card in the photo). Eleanore died in 2000. The salesman, George Kelley I cannot find out if he is still alive or not. I found a 1940 census record from St. Paul, MN that shows him as being 8 years old (born in 1932). In 1960 he would be 23 years old, meeting the age requirements for the advertisement for Revelation Vacuum salesmen.

Wally's obituary: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/125739041/walter-martin-blatz
Elanore's obituary: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/89839544/eleanore-e-blatz

#7: I have attached two photos of Eureka storage boxes from the same period, and surprise, same materials used.

So, summing this all up....The seller is located in Elk River, MN, the box manufacturer in St. Paul, MN, the telephone exchange number to Minneapolis, MN, the door to door salesman was born in St. Paul, MN, and finally, Mr. Wally Blatz himself born and died in Minnesota.

Everything all fits to the same city and was all localized, so the claim that all these people, names, and cards can be picked completely at random and faked but all connected within the same city, that is just simply not possible. That's my thoughts on this matter.

The company
Northwest manufacturing company saint Paul Minnesota
453 Alexander street is the company. You are right. The link I clicked on said St Paul MN. Bringing this page up. The address on tag and address is different city.
The company was founded in 1995. It's in Minnesota. Rather than another company replacing past company it's more likely move hq or mfg to a different location. So it's Sam company. You should know that your a business owner.
Wood particular board isn't sturdy. They used real wood as it was cheaper. Particle board when wet or stress cracks easily.
Government issued
50 please cotton 50 percent cellulose fiber is a cotton material binded by cellulose is typically found in insulation.
So the tag is reffering to a cloth material not particle board.
So going with material and company of same name different location made material for trunk after 1995.
So maybe you're right maybe your not.
I don't think particle board would have been used. I'll soon know. BTW congrats on having a job I hear those are tough I too have a job and I like sleep too.
Don't call me pumpkin either. Neither of us proved any factual info on vacuum. So don't think I'm being smart or talking in circles. I validatted my point that real wood was more than likely used. You proved my link was wrong. So don't go think I'm s babbling idiot. Inaskiforvs trunk or display using particle board from era. I can't prove it but evidence I provided is more plausible than you saying anything. Provide a display or a trunk of particle board from late 50s early 60s.
If you can't do that or prove I'm wrong then you pumpkin better learn a heck of a lot more about 50s art deco. If you prove me wrong I need to learn up. Expert in era deco provide proof because you are talking like I'm an idiot. If you're wrong eat crow and stop talking in circles you are not as advertised.
Good night.
Don't call me pumpkin I'm not your dear friend I'm not special and I'm not a fool. So put up facts. Luxflairguy.

Okay

So it's not particle board. I was correct on that I was wrong on it not being a salesman box. Thanks for this information.
I'd apologize I was wrong to luxflairguy but he proved nothing.
Texaskirbyguy made us both eat crow.
Wow I wasted a lot of time.
Good lesson.
Thanks texaskirbyguy.

Texaskirbyguy

Thanks for the info.
I provided it to the seller and they were very appreciative. It was much more than they could find.
Lesson taught.

Hassock

Was either sold for $19.95 OR it was given away free to a door to door vacuum customer as inducement to buy TONIGHT. The salesman didn't keep his demo machine in it. In fact, the hassock was delivered later - after the customer's credit was verified.

This is the hassock for the 1957 Compact model C-4 (ironic - the same model as the black Revelation).

The Lewyt 55 and it's famous hassock. 1952. It's "Cedarized". There was a disc underneath the lid of the hassock that was loaded with cedar 'stinkum'. When you sat on the top of the hassock, the disc released a 'poof' of stinkum into the room.

The 1950 Rexair Model C - sitting on the very rare 4 quart pan with built-in wheels. The Hassock has three 'doors'. Because the Rexair was designed to be stored OFF the water pan, the hassock is extra wide to accommodate.

Even the 1959 General Electric Swivel Top with Cord Reel had a Hassock. In this case, the hassock was most likely sold as opposed to being given away since GE cleaners were not sold door to door by aggressive salesmen. OR, a store could use them for a promotion (Buy this weekend and get a hassock half price).

i know compact had the storage hassock but we were debating wether it was the original one ,my grand mother had a compact c8 it came whit the storage hassock whit it .I was only referring this one whether or not it was a factory one that all

Hey

I learned I have better things to do than argue if something is real. Some people post some antagonize. I'm going to watch the cowboys. I know it's real. I'm not wasting time right or wrong. Have a good night.

I guess some thing escape my knowledge at times, happy vacuuming and thank you again for this info . I was surprise at the price if the real deal then yes i can see why its so expensive .(sorry for the typos)
happy vacuuming. and thank you for this lovely knowledge you shared whit us here .

What is really interesting is that instruction manual. I have the instruction manual for both the compact and revelation versions of the model C-4. I have never seen a revelation vacuum manual with the cover as shown in the auction.

Hey

It could be salesman demo model brochure instead of manual. But that is a Revelation in itself. Corny I know.
