Hello. I am so glad found this site, to know that i am not alone with my strange obsession of vacuums. I dont have the biggest collection in the world, but i think i have the biggest obsession of them in the world! I hope ill learn a lot more about vacuums and be able to share a lot of interesting vacuum facts!

Welcome!

We love new posters. Isn't it nice to be in a place that they don't think you are weird. Of course, I love being different and have no problem bringing people down to the vacuum rooms and seeing their reactions. Welcome, hopefully you will enjoy it here!

Fred

Hi, I'm new here too. Well, I was in the background for a while just reading the posts and then I signed up. Trust me, you do not have the biggest obsession in the world. I was made fun of my whole childhood, lol. Now I just dont care. I remember when I first heard there was a thing called the vacuum cleaner collectors club I could not believe it. I thought I was the only one in the world. I was surprised that there were so many people that had this in common, and a few other things too, lol

Welcome to the site! You're among family here... There are lots of people who post on here that have tons of knowledge about all things vacuums (and even some non-vacuum things).

When you get a minute, you should fill in some more of your profile; tell us more about your collection, what machines you are looking for, maybe your name, where you're from, etc....

Happy vacuuming!

~Fred

Welcome guys, I'm glad that you have joined us! Chris I think that most of us felt the same way when we discovered the club. We always thought we were the "only" ones! You will enjoy this site very much. I think that you would also enjoy joining the VCCC, a great group of friends. Our convention this year is in Minneapolis on Sept. 15th thru the 18th. I know it would be an experience you would never forget. Terry

It's amazing how many of us were terrified of vacuum cleaners as toddlers, but somehow the fascination took over and became a love affair. I guess love does conquer all!

Welcome VW......this is a great international family of vac fans.

Eurekaprince Brian :-)

Yeah, my family says it started with me when I was about a year and a half old. My grandmother had a Kirby classic III and a green sears best canister from about 1975 with the tool caddy and the powermate with the green wand. They said one day she turned on that kirby and I jumped up on the couch like it was gonna eat me, lol. I guess the red and metal and that big bag were a little intimidating to an 18 month old, but I calmed down, and soon played with nothing but those two vacs and their attachments. Funny thing is, when I started getting away with collecting, those were my two most prized machines to find and I have both exact same models with all parts, and manuals, and boxes in pretty much new condition. It took several years though. Especially the sears. A perfect part off this one and that one. about 15 years later, mine could pass for new. My other vacs are largely childhood machines that I liked growing up too. I have heard similar stories alot though.

Welcome to the family!

Glad to have you here. I am a new poster here as well, but already have had great conversations. It is so awesome to have our common interest that other people can't understand :)

I was made to feel weird about my love of vacuums when I was younger, but now it's so great to know that there are many others who share the same appreciation for vacuums.

THANKS

Thanks for being so accepting, my vac collection being so small and everything. Like i said before, its nice to be able to talk about vacuums and actually know im being listened to...

Thanks, VW

Welcome to the forum vac whisperer. (I like the name BTW) I am enjoying your posts so far!

Glad you're here....

Rick

Thanks... It was the most original name i could think of! Did you read my post about a yelloe convertible being on ALF?

welcome to the site I am new to

I know how you feel my mom and dad think I am nuts for having a vacuum obsession. I just love this site and seeing peoples posts. I have seen the VCC convention on youtube and everyone seems so nice. I just restored my first vac which is a 1950's Hoover model 63 which is now all original even including new bristles on the beeter bar which was extremly hard to find. After I restored it my mom was amazed at how well it works and how quiet it is. Anyway welcome. My next vac I want to find is a "HOOVER CONSTELLATION"

Im not a female... I had to use my moms email address. Things are fine. And how do you know my moms name?

Best regards, VW

Welcome (VW)...

I would like to also welcome you to the forum/club.

There are a lot of nice people in the club & a lot of helpful info.

I'm somewhat limited on assistance w/ other brands (don't want to repair or rebuild others); however, with KIRBYs, if there's any way I may be of help that you're not familiar with, feel free to contact me [thru my email in my profile might be the quickest]. I carry Genuine Kirby parts w/deeply discounted prices for members. And again, welcome.

Bill
