Man oh man, it takes forever for this site to load the last two days. There are some scripts running that shut everything down until they load. Sometimes I can provoke my computer to ask me to stop the scripts, which I do, but it is annoying as a six foot long Kenmore hose trying to dust the top of a seven foot tall book case. There used to be an ebay feed running across the top and the site loaded fast. Now it's all Kenmore ads and they take forever to load. Meanwhile nothing else will load, you can't even scroll.

It is the "Kenmore - tested for living" ad that takes forever to load and until it does the site is locked up. That isn't my computer.

No. It's a modern cable modem and I don't have granny tranny donkey porn clogging the server (lol) but our provider out here among the pucker bushes isn't maybe the best in the world. It is just this one Kenmore ad that takes for effing ever to load in the banner at the top or along the sides. It has too many scripts running and that slows the whole works down.

Dircik, try downloading & using Spybot Search & Destroy, Ccleaner, & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Part of the problem is the memory in your computer....it's transmitting information in the form of cookies to other websites, what your preferences are, which show up in the form of ads. Ever notice if you Google search something & then a couple of days later you see ads for similar things? That's why. Try those 3 things & see if it makes a difference. I make it a point to run those 3 programs twice a week, since I download torrent files & use The Pirate Bay, & my computers ALWAYS stay clean.

PS- And whatever you do, if you're using AVG Free for your antivirus, switch right away! Learned the HARD WAY it's crap! I recommend using Avast antivirus instead, it's the best free available antivirus right now.

Yeah, maybe your computer has been turned into a zombie, along with 10,000 others trying to break an encryption somewhere!

I run CC Cleaner regularly including wiping free space. That is part of routine admin.

The only ad banner that slows the loading of this site is the darn Kenmore ad. The other ads don't have as much scripting language in them apparently.

On the lightly-scented side, your favourite brand gets to show you cool stuff!!

On the lemon-scented side, you can always sneak your way past security and sabotage the tapes containing the ads!!

Wow Alex!

That's so Buck Rogers. I can almost hear Twiki going " Biggy...Biggy...What's up Buck." Long legs and a bouffant!

Reel to Reel

super Sweeper: In the 60s I used to buy salvage reel to reel Burroughs Computer parts for 20 cents/pound at the Silverstein Surplus store in Detroit. I still have a few plug in panels, but I long since used all the tubes. The tight tolerance components made some fantastic guitar amps!

That's cool and sad! Cool that you bought a crap-ton of computer stuff, did they Work? Sad that they got turned into amps, but I suppose those are more useful then a 1960s computer! What happened to what was left?
