Hey guys, I'm new here!

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Haha, if you haven't figured out by now, I'm a canister man. I prefer them over uprights because in most parts they're easier to maneuver, etc. plus it might have something to do with the hose... I dunno :-O haha.

Here's a shot of my Hoover PortaPower I canister the very first vac that was bought for me, and only me, and the Eureka Corvette Vac that I got for one of my birthdays.

Finally here's my trusty Hoover Elite 300 which has been through hell and back. I actually stored it outside in our shed for a year or two and then when my mom made me downsize my collection I brought it back. I thought it'd be in rough shape but I turned it on and it worked fine. Just needed a new belt and a new bag!

I think this Elite was the bare-bones Elite that was offered. No tools or any of that. The brush strip has only one row of brushes, but they still look new!

This thing out cleans a lot of the newer vacuum cleaners I've tried out. And it is kinda loud but not as loud as the Elite 430 we had!

Not a big fan of Kenmore's new combination dusting brush

As a dusting brush, the deluxe horse-hair version is great - primarily due to how big it is. But when you remove the brush part, you don't have much of an upholstery nozzle left - no bristles, no gliders, no red velcro strips - nothing. I suppose the mini Powermate can take care of sturdy sofas and car interiors, but how are you supposed to vacuum delicate curtains and bedspreads with stitching? The only companies offering you decent upholstery nozzles now are Miele, Dyson, Electrolux and maybe Simplicity/Riccar. And very few of them store on board the machine. Drives me nuts!!!!!!

BTW - never had the problem with the Power Nozzle cutting out, but I find the name "Whisper Belt" really humourous, as I find it really loud!

Haha, all the Kirby fans I know are always smiling and happy :-P Haha must be because they've become Kirbified or whatever haha. As of right now people probably are more interested in the vacuum cleaners, not me hahaha :-P, trust me, the Hoover is much more attractive than me haha.

eurekaprince - haha, I noticed that as well, the PN is LOUD, especially if you pick it up to move it from carpet to carpet, it almost sounds like something is outta balance, and it doesn't have a nice "hum" like the Hoover, it's more like a raucous, weedwhacker type sound. I lubed the end bearings and made sure it was balanced correctly but it still has that nasty sound.

Oh yeah, when I get my S4 back I'll be sure to get a lot of pics of that. Because it's "technically" my mom's because she bought it, she apparently has the right to take it away from me hahahaha. My hyper-allergic aunt is trying it out because her old Nilfisk GS90 (?) is slowly but surely dying, and if she likes it, she's gonna get a Miele because she's heard such good things about them.

KirbyUltimate - I take it that you are a Kirby fan? Which is your favorite model?

I worked on a G4 last weekend and I have to say those things are overbuilt (but in a good way!). I think my aunt has a similar one or the model that preceded the G4.

Here is my Eureka collection:
SC679J/1473B/632B/2118A/8283E
The SC679J is a Commercial Sanitaire 5 amp upright.
The 1473B is a 4 amp Eureka upright.
The 632B is a 5.5 amp Eureka upright.
The 2118A is a 6.5 amp Eureka upright.
The 8283E is a Eureka Express canister.

AHHHHHH YOU HAVE A DIMENSION 1000 GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!! hahaha, which model is it, the black one or the light blue/dark blue one without the adjustable power controls, that's the one we had

Here is my Kirby collection:
Classic III/Legend II/Generation 3/Diamond Edition/Sentria
I used to have 2 Sentrias. I traded 1 of them for a Legend II. There is a vid of my Legend II on YouTube under AdamMichaelMercer's channel.
Kirbys are indeed my favorite! :)
I really like the Heritage II/Legend/Legend II! :)

Kirbyultimate, what do you think of the G4? My friend who owns the one I worked on last weekend thinks it's a piece of junk. I know that that one still had a plastic fan, are the new ones still using plastic fans?

Welcome aboard Rich!!!!

You will love it here! You must tell us about what you do with those instruments!!! Other than play them....I mean are you studying music?

I am fascinated by electronic music and grand pianos!!

Rick
