Quite an interesting conglomeration of parts...
It looks like the handle has had a few modifications, as evidenced by that much earlier bag topper. I've cobbled together a few frankenkirbys over the years. It's kind of fun coming up with combinations the factory never thought of, and the modular nature of the machines makes it pretty easy. The Heritage/Legend series is easily my favorite of the Kirby line, but I tend to go in the opposite direction with mine. I really detest dump bags, and instead tend to retrofit older machines to use disposable filter bags. The first time I did this was with a sort of beat down Heritage 1HD that I bought on eBay a few years ago. When I unboxed it, I never even put the dump bag on it. Instead, it got complete Heritage II bag assembly that I had for spares, but I never liked the gray bag with the gray plastics; it was just too dreary looking. Thankfully, a generous Vacuumlander hooked me up with a brand new orange bag that was just what it needed. I really love those orange bags, and if my avatar photo is any indicator, so does my cat.
A few years later, a Classic III came my way and got the same treatment, but with a Legend II bag assembly, reusing the Classic III bag topper. Although not as bold as the original red plaid dump bag, the light red Legend II bag looks right at home on that machine.
