Here's a STUNNNG Hoover Model 29 (not mine ... I wish!!)

Charles:
I've never seen a 29 with a grey outer bag that says "with Handisac". All 29's that I know of had a burgundy cloth bag, and, since it was the 'economy Hoover', none that I ever knew of were designed to use disposable bags. Do you think the outer bag is original? I don't think so, but I'm asking.

The cord should have been replaced with a red one (even from a Classic III) rather than black. But that's the purist in me, as the 29 had a red cord from the factory. It looks like a vac shop rebuilt machine, the kind we saw in the 70's.

Well, I wasn't nit-picking the details. I was just commenting to the overall beauty of the machine and the high quality of the work that went into restoring it.

Sure, we'd all love to have all-original vintage machines. But the possibility of finding original vintage replacement parts -- especially such 'disposables' as bags and cords -- is fast disappearing into the passing of time.

Stunning Hoover 29 Resto

I agree as well, it is a stunning restoration! Kuddos!

This is not the first 29 I've seen with that gray/red Handi-sak bag, but it is likely they were dealer-supplied upgrades and/or replacements.

As far as the cord is concerned, both the 62 and the 29, each beginning production in 1950, had black rubber cords with the familiar large moulded Hoover plug during part of their run but being replaced by their better-known color-coordinated cords, blue and red, respectively. My mother's friend had an early 29 that had its black cord on it throughout its life, she taking extraordinarily good care of her machine. (Sadly, her plug did not fare as well as the cord itself.)
