Help Please with my Ultralux Classic Model 1521

I purchased my Ultralux Classic from a yard sale for $20. It is literally the best machine I have ever owned. However, when I was using it last week, I hit the end of a chair and the plastic handle that looks like a gas nozzle cracked and broke. How do I get this replaced? Also, the headlight doesn't work, either. Is there a place I can take it to have it looked at? Is there a place online that I can buy parts? I am not sure what my part is called.

Congratulations on finding a really great vacuum.  I have a 1521 myself.


 


You could just replace the broken hose end.  They show up on ebay periodically.

The better thing to do though is replace the entire hose, since the original woven ones are notorious for leaking after awhile when the inner lining breaks down and you lose a lot of suction.  You can find lots of replacement hoses online or from a vacuum repair shop.  I think this one is a good price.

The light bulb in the powernozzle is most likely burned out.  That's an easy thing to find at a hardware store.

While I like vacuum cleaners to have their original hoses, I could not agree more with replacing the woven hose on yours. I got a beautiful off-white and blue hose from Aerus-Electrolux and it not only looks perfect with the machine, it's also a great performer. </span>


 


<span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: medium;">You can find these hoses on eBay occasionally. For the best match, you'd want to look for the one with the pistol-grip (not the gas-pump handle) and in off-white with dark blue tracing. Here's a photo of mine.</span>

Try buying the part at your local vacuum shop or one nearby. Every dollar that you spend online leaves your local economy and never returns. Not to mention, you ensure that you get a good, decent part and lots of knowledge from experts.

There are only a couple of vac shops left in the entire Los Angeles area and none of them carry 'older' Electrolux parts. And by 'older,' I mean older than the Diplomat.......</span>

Charles, what a shame that in all of LA there isn't a shop that carries parts for "older" vacuums.  Maybe you should open a shop!  Luckily we still have a few shops here where I can find some items.
