Help! Electrolux Legacy Problems!

I was messing with my Electrolux Legacy and now whenever you put your hand just barely over the hose, or the very front of the vacuum, it shuts off and sais the bag is full. So I changed the 1/4 full bag, and tried turning the dial all different ways, and it's still doing it! I left the manual in Florida at my grandparent's house, so I can't refer to that. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, that's about right. Electroluxes use a series of vacuum lines inside to measure suction, and to activate the bag-full light. The process is almost completely mechanical, and as far as I'm aware, hasn't changed much since the original designs.

Open it up, check that all of the lines are connected securely and clear of dust or dirt. (A pipe cleaner should help clear them out, or maybe a jet of compressed air). If that fails, you'll probably need a new diaphragm. I _think_ the one in my link is correct for the Legacy, but make certain to confirm so on your own!

(This is a bit easier on the metal vacs, as they don't have the vacuum lines running to the center of the body, it's all housed in the front control panel/bag cover thing.)

Your electolux aerus branch you bought it from will probably take care of it for no charge even if over five years old..It is a simple fix for someone who knows what they are doing, which I don't..:)

will not know you did not purchase the unit new unless they look it up on the computer, That unit is over 5yrs old. Aerus is trying desperately to rebuild the name recognition they had before the sale of the Electrolux name. The rep in Indy, Stan, is very, very service oriented. I would think all of them would be. Your future opinion of their products and what you tell others about their products and service is contingent upon your impression of them. EVERY CUSTOMER INTERACTION IS IMPORTANT. I would go in and say I needed bags, but the machine has a problem. If he knows you intend to buy something, and will keep coming back for bags if the cleaner works properly, he will be much more inclined to help you out at little to no cost.

Do you need a new hose? You probably need a new brush roll. Anything that you can use that will boost the branch's revenues will make him more amenable to helping you.

I believe there is one in Indianapolis. My friend takes his luxs there, and I have him get me bags there for my Electroluxes since there is no Aerus Electrolux dealer in Wyoming anymore....Dan
