My father still has his 1961 Plymouth Valiant...and drives it at least a few times a week. When he backs it out of the garage, you can barely here the engine running. Ahhhh....those were the days!

Chase,

You will LOVE that vacuum! And that is quite a steal for it! I have been using my DC14 Animal daily since September and have no doubts! It pulls up so much out of my carpeting is perfect my house! Have fun with it! And I suggest getting the DC14 Animal turbo tool for that thing. You would be impressed with that!

Dyson DC14

I got a DC14 a few months ago (a rosy red Low Reach model), and I gotta say, although I was skeptical at first, it really surprised me! It needed a new clutch (the belts were shot), and a serious cleaning (last owner apparently had 30 dogs). I had a yellow DC07, and was not impressed with it's carpet cleaning abilities at all (doesn't grab at the carpet like I'd like it to), but this one seals to the carpet much better, and vibrates it a lot more. The Brushbar looks wimpy, but it does an impressive job. Like most Dyson uprights, It has great attachments that make it so easy to clean a room top-to-bottom. It does a surprisingly great job on bare floors too! And also like most Dysons, it's very easy to empty, and it's satisfying to see all the crud you've vacuumed up. When I use my Dysons I almost feel compelled to find as much dirt as possible.

My DC17 is still my best Dyson, but I've used this DC14 a lot, and I really like it! It's also my prettiest Dyson. Love that foxy color!

Thread drift

Hey Portable... re the 61 Valiant.

A couple of years ago I pulled into a McD's parking lot just as a guy was pulling in beside me in a 61 or 62 Valiant. I honestly could NOT hear the car running and when he got out I mentioned it to him and he said a lot of people had commented about it.. It was silent. Anways.. turns out he had won the car new back in 61/62 at the yearly exhibition in town and where the Shriners or Kiwanis or somebody always have those car raffles.

I am curious about Dyson cannisters
What's the difference between the DC23 and the DC23 Animal, besides $100?
Also what's the difference between the DC23 and the DC22? again a $400 difference.

I know so very little about Dysons I thought this would be the best thread to ask the experts.

I just bought my second Dyson on eBay.

It is a DC14 All Floors model. The seller claimed it is a store demo machine, and it really looks to be in good condition for a really inexpensive price. I checked the serial number with Dyson, and it is eligible for full warranty. I have a DC07 that I really like, so I hope the DC14 isn't a disappointment. How do you think the DC07 compares to the DC14?

Never been a bagless fan..but dyson is hard to beat versus other bagless.I feel the 14 does a better job at deep cleaning over the 7...and what you paid was a great steal. excellent buy. Dysons come in from time to time as a trade in , so when they do, i like to run them hard at the vac shop and at the house...to see what they can do.A very good bagless vacuum overall.

It arrived yesterday

and is really in good shape. It didn't come with any attachments, but the auction stated that so it was no surprise. I ordered a set and they should be here soon. It runs great, and I may be imagining things, but it seems to seal itself to the carpet better than my DC07. I'll be putting it through it's paces this week-end.

I saw a Dyson (I think Multifloor 2) yesterday at my Goodwill for $49. I was interested as I'd like to try one, but a bit put off for the high price for a thrift store. But I see these sell for $400 new so maybe not such a bad deal.

I pay about $50 for used Dysons on eBay with shipping included so no it's not that bad of a deal. But then people have found Dysons all the time in the trash. I just got a Dyson City canister off shopgoodwill.com for $12. It's all relative.

The Dyson Ball Multi-Floor 2 just came out in 2017 so it's still relatively new.

A couple of years ago, I was at the back door of a thrift store, loading a love seat in the back of a van for a friend and there was a Dyson sitting there with a piece of paper taped to it that said "free". I have no idea what model it was. All I know is it was yellow. The most obvious problem was the plug was missing a prong. I probably had one I could put on it but I just left the thing sitting there. Dysons—and bagless plastivacs in general—just don't resonate with me.

We all have our preferences...

While I have much the same sentiment as human regarding bagless and plastic vacs not resonating with oneself..I also am not a fan of uprights additionally.....HOWEVER...I did pick up a free Dyson dc07 last summer. It worked! I cleaned it up and replaced the split hose. Works amazingly well, the suction is outstanding I must say. So while I didn’t want it and don’t like it because it makes my back hurt to use it...I will say it is about the best bagless upright I’ve ever used and hence, I gave it to my partner’s niece who rents a house from us...so that she would have an upgrade vacuum to care for the place with!

So while some of us may not care for a brand or style...we should respect those who do. Not everyone likes the same things.

Glad you are enjoying your Dyson find. They definitely do perform quite well.

I love how

On this forum you get find a really old conversation and start it over again! On other forums everyone just gets really annoyed at you

Old threads...

True. I frequent a car-related forum where the mods have set and aggressively enforce a policy that members are not to respond to threads more than six months old. When it happens, they flame/shame the person responsible and then lock the thread to prevent further responses. Instead, they want users to copy relevant information into a new thread and start from there. While I understand their thinking, I'm glad things are not that harsh here.

Yeah I don't get the thread locking stuff either. It doesn't matter how old it is, the stuff is still posted and viewable. I think they just want their site statistics to be bumped up, so they would rather have 40 posts a day of the same discussion rather than just letting someone comment on a old topic.

Vacuumland does have a comment limit though on each topic, but I'm not sure what that number is set at, I think it's 100.

Wait.. HooverCelebrity is from Germany and his name is Marc. Weird.. Are old usernames recycled? So if I leave vacuumland can someone else claim my username and my history? I just find that odd. Unless it was a hack.

I answered my own question.

Apparently anyone who signs up for vacuumland can reuse someone else’s old user name. If the person leaves the site and the username is available.

In other words if I left the site someone could sign up as my username kloveland and have my history in the archives attached with the username kloveland. Although I don’t know who would want to reuse my username.

I tried this theory with the username KenKart who left awhile back and the site said it was available. To me this is a flaw of vacuumland. I don't want my posting history associated with a new person if I decided to leave vacuumland.

- Just thought I would point this out.
