Rockin' n Rollin' on our Thanksgiving feast -- got the bread maker going and the cherry-pineapple glaze reduction for the ham sizzling on the stove. I made the cranberry chutney Tuesday; yesterday I did the prep for the turkey dressing and all the pies last night (6 pumpkin + 1 apple). Next to get started on will be the turkey, then the ham, then the mashed potatoes & sweet potato casserole and finally the turkey gravy ... What am I forgetting? Something, I'm sure!

Thanksgiving 2015

Here are photos of our Great Turkey Blowout here at Casa Electrolux, including the menu (which, as usual, got revised and tweaked right up to dinner time).

Guests this year ended up being my friends Ken and Alex. More folks were expected who didn't make it.

Yeah, I know -- I made a ton of food. I always do for Thanksgiving. The thing is, I never know exactly how many people will be here. I'd rather have too much food than not enough.

Sometimes guests who have RSVPs don't show up; others arrive with unexpected additional guests. We've had as few as just Arlee and me and as many as a dozen.

Besides, we'll be eating excellent leftovers this weekend and all next week, with the grand finale being turkey soup made from the carcass and whatever other scraps are left over -- probably on Friday.

Pumpkin pies [which I always make from fresh pumpkins] will be sent 'round to the usual recipients. (Once you have a pumpkin pie NOT made from canned pumpkin, you'll never go back!)

I had a minor disaster with the pumpkin pies -- This time, I decided to slightly brown the crusts before filling them ... they shrunk!! Oh NO!! Oh well, they taste so good ["if I do say so myself"] that the lousy crusts are forgivable!!

As usual, I roasted the seeds after cleaning the pumpkins, and I used my 1950s Kirby Cutlery Set. :)

I hope everyone had a happy, joyous, meaningful, gratitude-fill Thanksgiving.
