Looks good James!

I've always liked these early Hoovers..and the 700 model was the first of the 'coffee-can' style machines to become part of my collection in 1991.

It looks as though this example has one of the earlier-style handgrips with the diamond pattern without the word 'Hoover' moulded into it. There was the other angular sort of grip with the wooden pieces in it. I only ever had one of those but it was damaged and I no longer have it.

AFAIK, the 700 was not as powerful as the models 725 and 750 that replaced it and also had a totally enclosed motor, without a cooling fan, unlike the 725 and 750. I expect that the reason for the introduction of cooling was due to the increased power on later models. However, one advantage of the totally enclosed motors is that they stay very clear of dust and dirt, at least in my experience of them.
