So apparently a lot of old Dirt Devils used GS electric motors. I’m curious to know the history of GS Electric and who they were. I’ve seen that they made motors for treadmills as wel, but does anyone know what happened to them?

It appears as though they were bought by ametek as, if I recall correctly, when I went to this directory website that had listed GS electric, I clicked on the link and was redirected to ametek’s website. One eBay listing for a G.S. Electric motor for a treadmill had the motor saying the company was in PA (can’t remember where, don’t think it’d be one that would be familiar to anyone though). I also am noticing the presence of felt rings glued on to the casings of the motors (all of them seem to be for Dirt Devil), so I’m guessing they were very prone to getting dirt and dust inside. GS electric also made the motors for the Kirby Vacuette and similar hand vacs. Not sure if they did the Vacuettes after being bought by ametek before the machines were discontinued by Kirby.
