At the Vacuum Cleaner Museum, June 20 - June 22. We've spent most of the day drawing machines from the surplus stock of the Vacuum Cleaner Museum, in St. James, Missouri. Boy, we sure do have a number of them that need to find new homes. Just show up at the Convention and pick one. No cost. We also will be going through many, many boxes of repair parts, NOS parts, hoses, etc. If you need something for your vacuum, now's the time to get it.

Here's a Kirby Dual 50 that we just got today as a donation. We already have one in the collection, so this one is going to go bye-bye in June.

Tom,

I just may stop by if I'm welcome! You're only about a 6 hour drive from me and it'd be a fun road trip with my friends. Thanks for sharing!

@Chase

The Vacuum Cleaner Museum is open six days per week, Monday through Saturday, 9 - 5. Any vacuum collector, or member of the general public, is welcome to come by at any time.

Every year, we have a Convention, in June. Tacony has been very supportive of this. Every year, since the Museum opened, we've raffled off a new Simplicity or Riccar vacuum. This year, the prototypes of the 3 new uprights, and the prototype of the new bagless upright, will be available for people who are attending the convention, to see and experience BEFORE they are 'in stores'.

Virtually every day that goes by, there's someone donating a vacuum to me. I always share the duplicates with fellow collectors.

This year, June 20, 21, and 22 are the Convention days. There's no cost to come to the convention (no registration fee). We have a complete library of literature and owners books, plus a copy machine. There are hundreds of vacuums in the two storage areas for the Museum plus the machine on display in the Museum itself.

Lots of fellow collectors are coming this year to the Convention. Think of it as a LARGE Mini-Meet. The Hampton Inn in Rolla, MO is a great, inexpensive place to stay, just a few minutes from the St. James exit. Good times, and good friends, on a 'shoestring' budget - and you'll all take home at least one if not two vacuums.

Tom,

That sounds absolutely awesome! Despite the fact that St. James is a 13 hour drive from my home (one-way), I might just make an appearance myself. I've got plenty of vacation time open this year, and nothing to do with it!

@bill:

We would love to see you. My friends Derreck Fricke and Evan Rogers are gracious enough to allow us to visit their vac stores and pour through their back rooms for treasures. Alex Braun hosts a visit to his home (and fabled vacuum cleaner 'garage'). We have two days at the Museum as well as the Factory where we make Simplicity and Riccar vacuums. I'm hosting a Barbeque at my home. All in all, a very exciting three days. We try to eat simply and cheaply - many people come to the Convention as a 'vacation' and we don't want people to spend a ton of money. For anyone who wants to come by at any other time of the year, you are MORE than welcome to do so. I'll spend time with anyone, showing off the collection and talking vacuums, at any time of the year.

The Sharp Twin Energy that's in the second last pic....Would you be willing to ship that to Ontario, Canada if I paid the shipping & packing costs? I have been looking for a replacement for my Sharp Twin Energy for a while now, as it needs several replacement parts. And it is similar enough to this one, the remaining parts could be used later for repairs.

I wish I could come down in June, but I have commitments in late June that can't be broken.

Thanks for your consideration in advance....Rob

Yes Rob:

I understand. You are in Canada so a trip to the USA would definitely have to planned well in advance. I wouldn't mind shipping it to you, but be aware it might be somewhat expensive for the shipping, but the vacuum would be free. It does run very well, and is complete.

I just got my flight arrangements made last night...can't wait to see everyone. I get to see a lot of you TWICE this year since many of us went to VDTA in February!!!
