I've got bits and pieces of Hoover Convertible Vacs lying around. I think I am going to take a U4089 that I found and customize it! I am going to retrofit a two speed switch into a round handle. It needs to be a new style handle without the "light switch" so that I can make the machine two speed. I ran decade 80 wiring through the round handle and the wire length works out just right. I have a 6.5 amp motor from a decade 80 that I will install. I need to throw the base in the dishwasher to clean it all up. I found a yellow hood on ebay some time ago so I will put that on so that the machine has a light. The light cover I have says Custom Convertible which is fitting for this machine. The bag that I am going to go with originally came from a JCPenney machine and is a great matching color. I think after I get everything polished out I am going to put a pinstripe on it reminiscent of a 28! Here are some pictures of the parts, stay tuned to see the finished product!
