Okay, this was the Filter Queen jet MOTH-er. Looks like Model 33 era. Listing was started at $45. Seller said, "I don't know what it is."

So, if a seller doesn't know what an item is, how do they arrive at the ridiculous price of $45 (used, no box)? Rhetorical question.

I've often wondered that myself.

You'd think people would want to watch some similar items to see what they actually sell for, but in this case the seller says they don't even know what it is. So not knowing what it was would make it hard to find similar items. In that case some sellers will simply list an item and progressively lower the price until it finally sells. That may be what this seller plans to do, which isn't really an unreasonable way to deal with an unknown item.

Downward price creep is a method often used in merch that won't move on eBay but I personally would never put up an item that I didn't know the purpose of. Specifically, it could be quite valuable but a seller wouldn't know that if they didn't have the basic knowledge of what it was.

Well, I've got one of these next to useless things (I like the MOTH-er spelling of the name, however). I'd be pickled tink to get even half of what this seller is asking. But I know even that is dreaming.
