Hello all!
I've been checking out the threads on here for about a few months now, and just thought I'd dive-in and go legit!
A little history on me: I've always been interested in all things mechanical, and really interested in anything that's old, as well. I just love the workmanship that used to go into the items we use on a daily basis, and that's what led me to old vacuums, specifically Kirbys. As a kid, I remember being scared as heck of my grandma's old Kirby (which I believe was a Classic Omega). Another reason was that I found the modern, mass-market vacuums to be very lacking, and started doing some research on why that is. So basically, that's what led me to buying my first Kirby (a lightly-used Avalir, with all of the attachments). I was amazed at the job it did on the carpets, compared to the Shark we had been using. See, we have two young boys, so we use a vacuum on a daily basis.
So, long story short, the Avalir led to a Classic III (love the red trim!) that I bought from the original owner, and now to my current project, a Legend II. Now this one hasn't lived as charmed of a life as my Classic III did. It almost looks like one of the previous owners vacuumed a kitchen with it, judging by the layers of "Kirby cake" that have built-up inside. I've just about cleaned all of that off, and I'm ready to give it a new lease on life.
I do have a question in regards to the bags for the Legend II: Will I need to convert the bag connector to the "F"-type to use the current Micron Magic bags, or is the existing round connector compatible with those? I know the current bags will work all the way back to the Gen 3, but I can't determine they'll work for the Legend. I'm about to order a bunch of parts from Kirby Needs on eBay, so I just need to know if I need to add the F connector to the order.
Thanks in advance!
