Hey guys. The Hoover Innovation I just got yesterday has a handle that does not stay in the upright position. The pedal is broken or something. Anyone know how big of a deal this is to fix? I'd like to be able to tip the vacuum up on its back wheels and roll it around but I can't when it's like this! I have a couple friends with Bissell Powerforce vacuums (don't worry, I became their friend before I knew what kind of vacuum they had LOL) and they are also broken... though those aren't worth fixing.

Thanks for any advice you can give on this issue :o)

I recommend....

Waiting for a junk one to come along, as your not going to get the parts required to service the unit. Those parts are no longer available.

If you have not taken apart machines such as a concept, or a dial a matic, I don't recommend takng this apart. You'll never get it together again, and if you use the wrong screws (they are different lengths) you will damage the hood, or other parts.

Wait and get another to salvage parts from.

Also, when you fix it finally, I would never tilt it on it's back wheels or you will snap that release in a second. I bet that is what happened to it to begin with. ALWAYS carry it by the carry handle.

My Innovation does the same thing. I would get into it and try to fix it but I am to scared I will break it, considering it is such a rare cleaner, it would be hard to find parts for or replace

Thanks guys. I did take my Concept One power drive apart before... it was a MIRACLE I got it back together and I DID screw too long a screw in the wrong place and it went right up through the housing so I know what you mean!

Of course Concepts are fabulous, but they are also a dime a dozen... not so with the Innovation apparently so I need to be careful. I washed and waxed it this morning and it really shined up nice but that handle thing bothers me. I'm worried about the handle falling down and breaking so it's going to be quite an issue. Wonder if an Elite release pedal would work. Making a diagram would be a great idea so I remember where things go!

As I said before............................................

NO! This is NOT AN ELITE CLEANER AT ALL! You are comparing apples to oranges. It was not even made in the United States!!!! You cannot get the parts (including belts) you need to fix it. This should not be a daily driver for that reason. If it were and Elite cleaner, I would of told you the part number and where to get it. You cannot fix it without the PROPER parts. Based on our conversations, I would recommend you not take it apart.
