Douglas, does your 22520 powermate have the height adjuster? I believe I have the same model tucked away. It was an economy model.

I am new to the forum but I have an RCA/Whirlpool pn that is aqua,it is motorized.
It is missing the bottom plate and the inlet hose has a split in it. I haven't started cleaning it up yet. I am still looking through my inventory to see if I can find the bottom plate and the main unit. Anything you all could tell me about it would be nice.

I cant remember where I saved this picture from, possibly a posting here or on ebay, but from the colour scheme its possible that the powernozzle above is from this type of machine as it is a Whirlpool and, from the power hose in the picture, we can assume that it did have a powernozzle at one time.

Looks like a tristar nozzle with the top metal plate just sitting backwards on it.

Also, you should polish that RCA power head, that is a very special one!!! I want to say that was the first whrilpool power head model in 1958???

I think you may be on to something. The cuffs on that hose seem to match the elbow on my p.n. I will have to look around some more and see if I can find the main unit, if I have it or any other components.

Yes, it is a compilation of tri star heads and parts. Some are just sitting loose.
Thanks for the info about the age of the p.n. I do plan to clean it up and replace the inlet hose. I am a bit of a purist tho, so I won't replace the inlet until I find an aqua hose to use to keep it color matched.
I also have alot of Kirbys, I am just starting to sort through things and get them together.The picture just shows one part of the kirby corner I am sorting and organizing after too many years.

Thanks, perhaps once I organize things alittle better I will share pictures. I am just starting to restore some. I am still learning what to use to restore and polish and clean them. If anyone wants to share the best products to use and what not to use I would be interested in learning. I already know how to buff Kirbys, and how to rebuild them, Restoring other brands is rather new to me.

For polishing aluminum machines such as Kirby's, I use Mother's Magand Aluminum Polish. It works great! For polishing chrome, I use Turtle Wax Chrome Polish which also works great! To polish the head, if your talking about the powernozzle, I would just get a damp cloth and wipe it down.

Powermate1970, do you know what year the two left-most vacuums in your photo are from? It's a little confusing to me as Sears sold a few different canister styles at the same time in the 1970s.
That rounded 1964 canister above must have been a lower end model. A relative gave us a similar one that was from 1983. It was brown and tan and didn't have the handle on the front. It was straight suction and had generic brown plastic tools and also a brown Sears plastic carpet nozzle.

Powermate 1970, thanks so much for the pics. Your blue Kenmore PowerMate vac with the woodgrain panel on top is a dream vac from my childhood and im still drooling over it. You are sooo lucky!
We had a large shopping mall with a large Sears store where i lived in the 1970s to early 80s.
Everytime we went to the mall, (which was often as there wasnt much else to do) i would always visit the vacuum center at Sears.
I was on a first name bases with salesmen!
( i was just a dumb kid with not even a penny to my name)
The salesmen would let me run the vacuums (if they werent busy with customers) as they were always kept plugged in and ready to show. I often thought i knew more and cared more about them than they did!
Anyway, i clearly remember when Kenmore changed over from the green machines to the blue,,and i was absolutely IN LOVE with the "Sears Best" machine with the woodgrain top,,and its Power Nozzle. The fact that the tool pack could be stored on top or inside the vac was just sooo awsome to me. And that PN,,,WOW.
The green machine was nice, but the blue was just that much fancier,,i thought.
I dreamed MANY a night of owning one, and asked Santa Clause MANY times for one!
(all we had at home was a clunky old Hoover Connie the spewed dust all over,was missing most of its attachments, and my parents were NOT sympathetic or interested in anything vacuum related)
And, afterall, there was no comparison from a brand new SEARS BEST Kenmore with a WOODGRAIN top and nifty new Power Nozzle to a clunky old worn out Hoover Connie!

Cole, the canister on the far left(gray/blue) is a 1969, I believe. The second from the left,(avacado green) is a 1972, mid line model. Brian, you are welcome. I actually have 2 sears best canisters in the blue woodgrain! Both 2899's from 1977. One is in pretty good shape. The other is in very good shape. They are awesome vacs! My quest is for a 1974 sears best. Same as the blue but in avacado green. My all time dream is to find a 1972 sears best model 2299.(I think that was the model) That was avacado green, woodgrain, but it had a 12 inch (old style) powermate with a headlight and GREEN WANDS! I just got a 1973 avacado green kenmore economy in the mail tonight. I will have to post a pic when I get it cleaned up.

AARRGGG! Your killing me here! lol Oh man, i wanted one of those blue ones so badly back then. Just thought they were about the coolest vac ever. They really are awsome. There is just something about the Whirlpool made Kenmores that makes them unique. (If you should ever want to sell one of your blue ones, let me know!
I did have a chance on E-BAY once to buy a white one with the orange rim,,and i think had the woodgrain top to the vac itself and the PN (not sure on that),,but it definatly was the same style vac,with the step on switch, same type of PN,,and had the 10 foot hose,,ect. BUT,,someone outbid me at the last minute.
Oh well,,i did get a Panisonic made Kenmore PN at a garage sale for a dollar,,just like the one in the pic with the carpet shampooer/vac,,,and i use it with a Compact ,,works great. Love how that PN digs in and grooms the carpet.
